Hello,
Regarding the image appearing darker when shooting at high frame rates like 240 FPS with the OV9281 camera, this is a common and expected phenomenon. The primary reason for this is the shorter exposure time inherently linked to high frame rates.
Frame Rate and Exposure Time Relationship:
Frame Rate (FPS - Frames Per Second) refers to the number of individual images the camera captures every second. For example, 240 FPS means the camera is capturing 240 distinct pictures within one second.
To capture so many frames in such a short period, the exposure time for each individual frame must be very short. Theoretically, the maximum exposure time for each frame cannot exceed 1/240th of a second (which is about 4.16 milliseconds). In practice, due to sensor readout times and other overhead, the effective maximum exposure time is often even shorter.
Exposure Time and Light Intake:
Exposure time dictates how long the camera’s sensor (CMOS in this case) is exposed to light to capture each frame.
The shorter the exposure time, the less total light the sensor can gather for that frame.
Light Intake and Image Brightness:
The amount of light gathered by the sensor directly determines the brightness of the image. Less light results in a darker image.
