I’ve got the Arducam IMX519 quad camera array hat set up and right now it captures all four cameras into a single 2x2 combined image. I need to change the shooting order so each camera outputs consecutively as its own single-channel frame instead. Is there a Python command to switch that?
Welcome to the forum. Just to confirm the environment - is this the IMX519 quad camera array hat running on a Raspberry Pi? And are you using the CamArray sample scripts or your own code?
Yes, the Arducam IMX519 quad camera array hat on a Pi. I’m using the sample setup from the CamArray quick start at the moment, so the 2x2 composition is whatever it defaults to. I haven’t changed any mode flags yet because I couldn’t find which one controls the output order.
Got it. That 2x2 output is the default composition mode, so it’s not a bug - it’s just how the quad array is set out of the box. To capture the four channels one after another instead of as one grid, you need to switch the composition mode rather than change a simple capture flag.
Makes sense. I was looking through the docs but couldn’t tell which section actually covers switching the composition. Can you point me to the right spot?
It’s under the ‘Switch composition mode’ section of the Multi-Camera CamArray quick start guide. Direct link: Quick Start Guide for Arducam CamArray HAT Kit - Arducam Wiki
Thanks, I’ll go through that section. Just to be sure I understand the direction - the composition mode switch is what controls whether I get the 2x2 grid vs consecutive single-channel frames, right? There isn’t a separate Python call I should be looking for first?
Correct - the ‘Switch composition mode’ section is the relevant reference for changing from the 2x2 composition to single-channel/consecutive capture on the IMX519 quad camera array hat. Start with that section and it should walk you through changing the mode. Once you’ve applied it, if the individual channels still aren’t coming through as expected, post back with what you’re seeing and we can go from there.
