Hi everyone, I’m trying to use the 4 Cameras Adapter Board (Multi Camera Adapter Hub for Arducam Cameras) with 4x Arducam Mini 2MP PLUS cameras for synchronous photo capture. I’m running it on an Arduino Mega, and I’ve also tried an Arduino Uno. The existing example code/library I found seems to be written for the Arducam Mini 2MP, not the 2MP PLUS, and I run into errors when I try to use it with the PLUS cameras.
Thanks for posting. That matches what I’d expect from the stock examples in the ArduCAM library. The ones targeting the regular Mini 2MP won’t quite line up with the PLUS variant, so you’d see issues when you swap in the PLUS cameras. Can you confirm which example you’re actually running, and what errors you’re seeing?
I went through the quick start guide for the legacy SPI camera and read through the suggested docs, but I still couldn’t tell if there’s a library or a way to run the 4-camera adapter board with 4x Arducam Mini 2MP PLUS. I don’t have the exact error text handy right now, but it fails once I use the PLUS cameras instead of the standard Mini 2MP. What needs to be adjusted in the code? Or is there an existing GitHub library/example that supports the Mini 2MP PLUS with the 4-camera adapter board?
The root cause here is that the existing example code targets the Arducam Mini 2MP, not the Arducam Mini 2MP PLUS, so it errors out when you run the 4-camera adapter hub with the PLUS cameras. For the multi-camera adapter hub setup, the relevant reference example is ArduCAM_Mini_4CAM_VideoStreaming. You can find it here: Arduino/ArduCAM/examples/mini/ArduCAM_Mini_4CAM_VideoStreaming at master · ArduCAM/Arduino · GitHub
Thanks, I’ll take a look at that. Just to be clear, that example is under the mini examples directory in the ArduCAM Arduino library, and it’s meant for the adapter hub with ArduCAM Mini cameras? So I’d use it as a starting point and adapt it for the PLUS variant?
Correct. The relevant reference example for the multi-camera adapter hub with ArduCAM Mini cameras is the ArduCAM_Mini_4CAM_VideoStreaming example, which lives under the ArduCAM Arduino library’s mini examples directory. That’s the current conclusion: use that example as the working reference for the 4-camera adapter hub, then adapt the camera-specific parts for the Mini 2MP PLUS variant.
