Cannot install Arducam UC-573 drivers on Jetson Nano with kernel 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4

Hi, I’m trying to get an Arducam UC-573 camera working on my Jetson Nano and I’m stuck at the driver install step. The install just fails partway through and I can’t figure out why. Has anyone gotten this camera running on a Nano?

Welcome to the forum. Can you share a bit more about your setup? Specifically the kernel version you’re running and which Jetson board you have. Also, what exactly happens when the driver install fails?

Sure. It’s the NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit. Kernel is 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608212426. I didn’t save the exact error output unfortunately, I just know the driver install script dies partway through. Sorry, I don’t have any logs from it.

No worries. That kernel string tells me you’re on L4T 32.7.4. Let me check the Arducam driver compatibility against that release.

I checked the Arducam Jetson camera documentation and it looks like Arducam has not released a driver for L4T 32.7.4. That’s likely why the install is failing — the driver package you’re trying to use doesn’t support that L4T version.

Ah, that would explain it. So is there any way to make it work without having to change much?

The way to get it working is to reflash the Jetson to a JetPack version that’s on Arducam’s supported list, then install the driver. The supported camera/version list and install instructions are here: Introduction to Arducam Jetson Cameras - Arducam Wiki. I’d burn the Nano to one of those versions before running the driver install again.

So to summarize: the root issue is that L4T 32.7.4 isn’t supported by the Arducam Jetson camera driver. The fix is to reflash/downgrade to a supported L4T/JetPack version from the list in the documentation, then install the camera driver. Let us know how it goes after the reflash.
