Hi everyone, I’m trying to get the Arducam 12MP*2 Synchronized Stereo Camera Bundle Kit working on an Nvidia Jetson Nano (two 12.3MP IMX477 modules with CS lenses and the Camarray Stereo Camera HAT). I can’t get past the kernel driver installation - it fails every time, so the cameras never work. Has anyone run into this?
Sorry you’re stuck. Could you tell me which L4T/JetPack version you’re on, and paste the exact error from the driver install? Also, which install guide are you following?
I’ve tried L4T 32.4.3 and 32.4.4. I followed the installation steps from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPZ2R81Vaf0 and matched the drivers from the GitHub repo Camarray_HAT/Jetson/Nano/IMX477 at main · ArduCAM/Camarray_HAT · GitHub for each version. Both L4T versions fail at the driver install step with the same error (screenshot attached). The cameras never come up.
For the IMX477 multi-camera Camarray setup on Jetson, the official quick start guide is the authoritative source. Can you work through this from the start? Quick start - Arducam Wiki The IMX477 page is the one to follow for the Camarray HAT on Jetson.
I followed that quick start page, but the cameras still don’t work. At ‘Step 4. Preview the camera feed in real time’, both supported resolutions fail when I run the terminal commands: 4032x3040@20fps and 1920x1080@60fps both error out (screenshots attached). Also, v4l2 only lists one available format with pixel format ‘RG10’, but the quick start page shows #RAW8 (GREY) and #RAW10 (Y16). The Jetson Nano does recognize the Camarray HAT, but the setup shows an error. I tested the Nano’s CSI connector with a Raspberry Pi Camera and it worked without issues, so I don’t think the Nano hardware is the problem.
That v4l2 output is the clue here. With the IMX477 Camarray driver loaded properly, you should see RAW8/GREY and RAW10/Y16 exposed. If only RG10 shows up, the driver or device tree overlay probably isn’t applying correctly. Just to rule things out: which JetPack versions have you tried, and did you reinstall the drivers cleanly each time or over the top of the old ones?
I’ve tried a few different JetPack versions and reinstalled the drivers multiple times. I also searched online but couldn’t find a fix for the RG10-only issue. I was planning to try the arducam_stereo_camera ROS package next (Camarray_HAT/Jetson/ROS/arducam_stereo_camera at main · ArduCAM/Camarray_HAT · GitHub), but I need the kernel driver sorted out first.
Given that 32.4.3 and 32.4.4 both fail the same way, I’d re-flash the Jetson Nano to L4T 32.7.3 and retry from the IMX477 quick start guide. L4T 32.7.3 is the suggested version for the IMX477 Camarray HAT setup on the Nano, and a clean flash avoids leftover module/DT state from the earlier install attempts. Once it’s flashed, go through the guide step by step and check v4l2 again - you should see the RAW8/GREY and RAW10/Y16 formats before the preview commands will work.
