Hi everyone, I’m stuck with an Arducam 8MP Sony IMX219 camera module (Rev.D, SKU B0102) on my Raspberry Pi. Whenever I try to capture, it just throws “error get picture”. I’ve tried a few things already but it keeps coming back with the same message. Has anyone run into this?
Sorry you’re hitting this. Can you tell me a bit more about your setup? Which Raspberry Pi OS version are you running, and what does the camera section of /boot/config.txt look like right now?
I’m on Raspberry Pi OS bullseye. The module is the Arducam 8MP IMX219 with CS lens, Rev.D, SKU B0102. I also followed the official Raspberry Pi camera software getting-started guide, but still no picture. I’ve attached a couple of screenshots of what I’m seeing.
Thanks. Let’s start with the overlay. If you have dtoverlay=imx219,cma-512 in /boot/config.txt, change it to just dtoverlay=imx219, then reboot and try capturing again.
Done. I changed dtoverlay=imx219,cma-512 to dtoverlay=imx219 and rebooted. No change, still the same “error get picture”.
Next, can we rule out the ribbon cable? If you have another cable available, swap it in and try again.
I tested with two different cables. Both of them work fine with an OV5647 camera I have here, so the cable doesn’t seem to be the issue.
Got it, that rules out the cable. Let’s pull a bug report so we can dig into this further. Reboot the Pi, then run these commands:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
./arducam-camera-bug-report
This will create arducam-bug-report.txt in the current directory. Send that file over and we’ll take a look.
I ran the tool and it generated arducam-bug-report.txt. Since it’s a file, I’ve sent it over through private message. Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks, I received it. After going through the report, and given that the overlay change and the cable swap both checked out, the report points to a hardware fault on the B0102 module itself. So this doesn’t look like a software or configuration issue — the unit appears to be defective.
