Cannot get IMX708 camera drivers to work on Raspberry Pi 4 Bookworm arm64

I’m trying to set up an Arducam IMX708 camera on my Pi 4 and I can’t get the drivers working at all. The camera just doesn’t show up and the setup script stops with a message that it can’t find the corresponding package. It prints this:

Cannot find the corresponding package, please send the following information to support
Hardware Revision: c03115
Kernel Version: 6.1.0-rpi4-rpi-v8
Package: imx708 – bookworm-arm64

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks for posting the full error. That package string “imx708 – bookworm-arm64” is the key part. Can you confirm which OS image you’re running? It looks like Bookworm arm64, but I want to be sure since the setup script chooses the package based on that.

Yeah, I’m on Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm, arm64. Hardware revision is c03115 and uname -r shows 6.1.0-rpi4-rpi-v8. The setup script keeps looking for imx708 – bookworm-arm64 and then fails with that “cannot find package” message.

That matches what I’m seeing on the package side. The IMX708 driver package for bookworm-arm64 hasn’t been released yet, so the installer has nothing to pull down for that combination. That’s why it’s telling you it can’t find the corresponding package.

So it’s not supported on Bookworm at all? Is there a workaround, or do I need to wait for a package update?

Right now the Arducam IMX708 driver is only available on bullseye OS with kernel 6.1.21. The practical workaround is to burn the bullseye OS image with that kernel version onto your SD card, then run the IMX708 setup again. There isn’t a bookworm package available yet.

Got it. So flash bullseye with kernel 6.1.21, then rerun the setup script? Anything else I need to check after flashing?

That’s the main path. Flash bullseye, confirm uname -r reports 6.1.21, then run the IMX708 setup again. The installer should then resolve to the bullseye package and install cleanly instead of looking for imx708 – bookworm-arm64. To summarize the current situation: the Arducam IMX708 camera driver is only available on bullseye OS with kernel 6.1.21, and it has not been released for bookworm OS yet, so Bookworm users need to switch to bullseye 6.1.21 for now.
