Hi everyone, I’m stuck trying to set up my Arducam on a Raspberry Pi. When I try to install libcamera, apt keeps telling me it cannot find the corresponding package. It basically just says the package can’t be located. Anyone else run into this?
Thanks for reaching out. Could you share a few environment details so we can narrow this down? Specifically your hardware revision, the kernel version you’re running, and the exact package/OS combination you’re trying to install.
Sure. Hardware revision is d03115, kernel version is 5.4.0-1095-raspi, and I’m trying to get the libcamera package on Focal Fossa-arm64. I don’t really have much in the way of logs or error output beyond the ‘cannot find package’ message, and I haven’t attempted anything too drastic yet.
Thanks, that helps. Looking at those details, the camera driver has not been released on bookworm OS so far. Your kernel version 5.4.0-1095-raspi (Focal Fossa-arm64) is not the supported target either. The supported setup is kernel 6.1.21 on bullseye OS, so the mismatch is likely why the corresponding package isn’t available.
Ah, that makes sense. So what’s the actual fix here? Do I just update the kernel somehow, or is there more to it?
The cleanest route is to burn (re-flash) your SD card to kernel version 6.1.21 with bullseye OS. That puts you on the supported combination and the matching libcamera package should be available after that. Just to reiterate: we have not released the camera driver on bookworm OS so far, so stick with the bullseye 6.1.21 image for now.
Got it, that clears things up. I’ll re-flash with bullseye OS / kernel 6.1.21 and give it another try. Thanks for the help!
