Cannot find libcamera_apps package when running install script for IMX519 on Raspberry Pi 5

Hi all, I’m trying to install the Arducam IMX519 autofocus camera on a Raspberry Pi 5 (8GB) using the pivariety installer, but it errors out. I ran:

./install_pivariety_pkgs.sh -p libcamera_apps

and got:

Cannot find the corresponding package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Hardware Revision: d04170
Kernel Version: 6.1.0-rpi4-rpi-2712
Package: libcamera -- bookworm-arm64

Is this a supported combination? The camera is the IMX519 autofocus model.

Can you confirm a few environment details so I can pin this down? The error already shows the revision and kernel, but double-check that you’re on Bookworm arm64 and that hardware revision d04170 is what cat /proc/cpuinfo reports. Also, which version of the install script did you download or clone?

Yeah, it’s Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm arm64. cat /proc/cpuinfo shows Revision: d04170 and uname -r gives 6.1.0-rpi4-rpi-2712. The script is the standard pivariety package installer. It stops right after printing that ‘Cannot find the corresponding package’ block.

Thanks. That matches what the script is doing: it looks for a libcamera_apps package matching bookworm-arm64 on a Pi 5 and doesn’t find one, so it exits with that message. From what I can tell, the Pi 5 / Bookworm compatibility packages for Arducam cameras aren’t released yet. The script isn’t detecting a bad board; it just has no matching package available for this combination.

Got it. Is there a workaround, or should I try forcing a Bookworm package built for Pi 4, or maybe building libcamera_apps myself? I’d rather not break the current camera stack if it isn’t ready.

I wouldn’t try forcing the Pi 4 package onto the Pi 5 image. It may not match the 2712 kernel/platform and could leave the camera stack in a bad state. As of now Pi 5 / Bookworm support is still being worked on, so the immediate answer is to wait and follow this thread for updates:

The compatibility status for Pi 5 is being discussed there. Once a package for bookworm-arm64 on Pi 5 shows up, the installer should stop throwing ‘Cannot find the corresponding package’.
