Hey everyone, I’m stuck trying to get my Arducam IMX477 Day and Night Vision HQ Camera working on a Jetson Orin Nano Super dev kit. I’ve been following the Native Camera Quick Start Guide on the Arducam docs site, but I keep hitting a wall.
Here’s my setup:
NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super (Engineering Reference Developer Kit)
JetPack 6.1.1
Kernel: 5.15.148
The problem: the install script seems to look for a deb package that matches my kernel version, and it just doesn’t exist for 5.15.148 / JetPack 6.1.1. I can’t find the right package anywhere. The camera has never worked since I got it.
I’ve even tried going back and forth with ChatGPT to troubleshoot, but no luck. Has anyone gotten this camera working on JetPack 6.1.1? Or do I need to downgrade to an older JetPack version? If so, which one is actually compatible?
Thanks for the details. Before we dive into software troubleshooting, could you post a couple of clear photos of your Jetson device — one from the top and one from the back? I want to confirm which carrier board you’re running on. That’ll help narrow down the right approach.
To reiterate — the core issue is the install script can’t locate a deb package for kernel 5.15.148 on JetPack 6.1.1. If there’s an updated install_full.sh floating around for this JetPack version, I’d love to get my hands on it. Otherwise, I’m open to switching JetPack versions — just need to know which one this camera actually supports.
Thanks for the photos — that confirms you’re using an official NVIDIA carrier board, which is good news.
Here’s the thing: you don’t actually need an Arducam-specific deb package at all. The IMX477 sensor on this camera is supported directly by the native NVIDIA camera driver. The Arducam install scripts and deb packages are really for cases where the native driver path isn’t available, but in your case the native route is actually the cleaner approach.
Here’s what I’d suggest:
Run the Jetson-IO configuration tool:
sudo /opt/nvidia/jetson-io/jetson-io.py
In the menu, select “Camera IMX477 Dual” as your camera option.
The jetson-io.py tool will handle the device tree and driver configuration automatically. Since the Arducam IMX477 uses the same sensor, the native NVIDIA driver should pick it right up — no custom deb packages needed.
That did it — it worked! Thank you so much. I was banging my head against those deb packages for way too long. Running jetson-io.py and selecting “Camera IMX477 Dual” was all it took. Really appreciate the help!
