Hi, I’m trying to get an IMX477 HQ RPi camera module working on my Jetson Nano (Developer Kit version), but I can’t seem to find the right deb package for the camera driver. My kernel is 4.9.299-tegra-32.7.3-20221122092935. Does anyone know which package I should be using for this setup?
Thanks for the details. The problem is that there wasn’t a matching deb package available for that kernel/Jetson combination before, which is why you couldn’t find it. We’ve now updated the package/driver for your setup, so please give the installation another try.
One note before you run the install command — run this first:
./install_full.sh -l
That will help verify the supported configuration on your system before proceeding.
Thanks, that worked. I was able to install the driver now. It shows the imx477 sensor driver version as imx477_v2.0.6.
Actually, I’m still running into issues. The driver installs, but the board setup still fails at boot. Here’s what dmesg shows:
[1.733525] imx477 7-001a: tegracam sensor driver:imx477_v2.0.6
[2.033968] imx477 7-001a: imx477_board_setup: error during i2c read probe (-121)
[2.041543] imx477 7-001a: board setup failed
[2.046035] imx477: probe of 7-001a failed with error -121
[2.046531] imx477 8-001a: tegracam sensor driver:imx477_v2.0.6
[2.346950] imx477 8-001a: imx477_board_setup: error during i2c read probe (-121)
[2.354483] imx477 8-001a: board setup failed
[2.358946] imx477: probe of 8-001a failed with error -121
Which command did you end up using to install the camera driver? The driver itself is loading fine — v2.0.6 is being probed on both I2C addresses, 7-001a and 8-001a. The failure happens during the board setup I2C read probe. Error -121 is an I2C remote I/O error, meaning the sensor isn’t acknowledging on the bus at all. That usually points to a communication/connection issue between the camera and the board rather than a driver problem. Can you confirm the exact install command you used and double-check how the camera is connected?
Quick update — I got it working. Turns out the issue was hardware, not the driver. I removed resistor R8 from the RPi camera module and now it works on the Jetson. The IMX477 module needs that resistor removed for Jetson compatibility.
Glad you got it sorted. That fits the symptoms perfectly — error -121 on both I2C buses during board setup means the sensor wasn’t responding on I2C, which is typically a hardware/wiring problem rather than the driver. To summarize for anyone else hitting this: the deb package is now available for kernel 4.9.299-tegra-32.7.3-20221122092935 on the Nano, and after installing imx477_v2.0.6 the remaining boot-time failures were resolved by removing resistor R8 from the RPi camera module.
