Hey everyone, I’m trying to get an Arducam OV9281 global shutter camera working with my Jetson Xavier NX. I cloned the Arducam Jetson camera repo and ran the install_full.sh script, but it keeps failing. The script exits with an error saying “Cannot find corresponding deb package.” Has anyone run into this before? I’m not sure if I’m missing a dependency or if the repo is just broken.
That error usually means the installer script can’t locate a prebuilt driver package for your specific JetPack / L4T version. Can you run cat /etc/nv_tegra_release and also uname -r on your Xavier NX and post the output? That’ll help narrow down whether your L4T release is within the supported range.
Sure, here’s what I have:
/etc/nv_tegra_releaseshows:R35 (release), REVISION: 6.1uname -rgives:5.10.216-tegra-35.6.1-20250304015758
So it looks like I’m on L4T 35.6.1, which corresponds to JetPack 5.1.4 I believe. I also dug through the Arducam GitHub repos looking for any deb package that might match this version, but I’m not finding anything for 35.6.1 at all. The closest I see are packages for 35.4.1 and older. Is there a driver for 5.1.4 somewhere that I’m just not finding?
Unfortunately, there isn’t one — and that’s the root of the problem. JetPack 5.1.4 (L4T 35.6.1) is outside Arducam’s supported version range. The install_full.sh script looks for a matching deb package based on your L4T release string, and since no package was ever built for 35.6.1, it fails with that “Cannot find corresponding deb package” error.
Arducam’s official driver support for Jetson cameras currently spans from JetPack 4.6 (L4T 32.6.1) through JetPack 5.1.2 (L4T 35.4.1). Anything newer than 5.1.2 — including your 5.1.4 — is not supported, and no driver or deb package is provided for those releases. Software support for versions beyond that cutoff has been discontinued.
Ah, that explains it. I was pulling my hair out thinking I had a messed up clone or something. So it sounds like my only option is to downgrade the Xavier NX to a supported JetPack release then?
Just to confirm — if I flash back to JetPack 5.1.2 (L4T 35.4.1), the same install_full.sh script should work without any changes? And is there anything I need to watch out for during the downgrade, or is it just a standard SDK Manager reflash?
Correct — if you flash JetPack 5.1.2 (L4T 35.4.1) onto your Xavier NX, the install_full.sh script should detect the L4T version as 35.4.1 and find the matching deb package without issue. It’s a standard reflash through NVIDIA SDK Manager — just select JetPack 5.1.2 as the target version when flashing.
Arducam specifically recommends JetPack 5.1.2 as a compatible version if you want to stay on the JetPack 5.x branch. You can verify the full supported version list here:
Summary of steps:
- Use SDK Manager to reflash your Xavier NX with JetPack 5.1.2 (L4T 35.4.1)
- After the reflash, re-clone or pull the latest Arducam Jetson camera repo
- Run
install_full.shagain — it should pick up the 35.4.1 driver package and complete successfully
Just keep in mind that if you ever need to move to JetPack 5.1.4 or newer in the future, Arducam’s drivers won’t be available for those releases unless they update their support matrix down the line.
