Hi all. I’m trying to install the driver for an Arducam 708 (IMX708) on a Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit, and the installer keeps stopping with:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403
Jetson type: NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit
I’m using the B0439 extension cable with the B0308/B0309 fixed focus IMX708 module. From what I can tell, B0439 + IMX708 is compatible with the Xavier NX (but not the AGX Xavier). I can’t change the kernel because our applications are already developed against this exact version.
Thanks for posting that. That error usually means the installer couldn’t find a prebuilt deb matching your exact L4T/kernel combo. Can you run uname -r and paste what’s in /etc/nv_tegra_release so we can confirm the L4T revision? Also, please paste the full terminal output around the failure.
Here’s the same output again, plus the screenshot once more:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403
Jetson type: NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit
And yes, it’s the B0439 + IMX708 (B0308/B0309) combo on the Xavier NX. I really can’t move off 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403.
Got it. That kernel string (5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403) is a specific L4T 35.3.1 build, and the installer is failing because there’s no matching deb package for the IMX708 on that exact revision. The B0439 + IMX708 hardware combo itself is fine on Xavier NX; this is a driver package coverage issue.
Just to be sure: are you locked to this exact kernel, or could you reflash to a JetPack/L4T version that’s in the supported list? That’s normally the fastest way to get the standard driver installed.
We’re locked to it. The whole application stack is already built and validated against 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1, so changing the kernel is not an option for us. Is there any other way to get the IMX708 driver working?
Understood. For that specific kernel version, there is no standard deb/driver available for the IMX708 on the Xavier NX. If you need to keep using the IMX708 module on this exact kernel, the current route is to request a customized camera driver from the Arducam sales team at [email protected]. They can check whether a build can be made for 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403.
Thanks, that makes sense. So the standard installer just doesn’t cover this kernel, and a custom driver request goes through sales. I’ll reach out to them. Also good to have it confirmed that B0439 + IMX708 is compatible with Xavier NX but not with AGX Xavier, in case we ever look at that board.
Correct. Summary: the root cause is that no matching deb/driver exists for the IMX708 on Jetson Xavier NX with kernel 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403. Since you can’t change kernels, the current workaround/conclusion is to request a customized driver from [email protected]. And yes, B0439 + IMX708 (B0308/B0309) is compatible with Xavier NX but not with Jetson AGX Xavier. Once sales provides the custom build, you should be able to install it on your existing kernel.
