Hi everyone, I’m trying to install the camera driver but I can’t seem to find the corresponding deb package anywhere. I’m following the guide step by step and the package just isn’t there. My board is a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2. Am I missing a repo or pointing at the wrong place?
Could you tell me which camera module you actually purchased? From the way you’re describing it, it sounds like you might be following the Jetson deb package guide. A Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 is not a Jetson device, so that guide wouldn’t apply to your board. Also, can you run uname -a in a terminal and share the kernel version?
The camera is an imx477. Sorry, I didn’t realize the Jetson guide was a totally different thing. I’ll grab the kernel version when I’m back at the Pi.
No worries, that explains a lot. Since you’re on a Pi with an imx477, you don’t need that deb package at all. The real issue is that the imx477 camera driver needs to be enabled on the Raspberry Pi. The full steps are in the Raspberry Pi camera software docs (https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/camera_software.html), but the short version is: open a terminal, run sudo raspi-config, go to Advanced Options, enable Glamor graphic acceleration, then go back to Advanced Options > GL Driver and select GL (Full KMS). After that, reboot your Pi and we’ll verify with the libcamera command.
Okay, I enabled Glamor and switched the GL Driver over to GL (Full KMS), then rebooted. What’s the exact libcamera command I should run now to check if this actually fixed it?
Try libcamera-hello --list-cameras first to see if the imx477 is detected, or libcamera-still -o test.jpg to try grabbing a frame. If the camera shows up there, the driver is loaded and you’re past the whole deb package confusion. To sum up where we are: the Jetson deb package guide doesn’t apply to a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2, the imx477 driver had to be enabled through raspi-config with GL (Full KMS), and libcamera is the right tool to confirm whether it’s working now.
