Cannot find corresponding deb package installing imx477 driver on Jetson Xavier NX

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get my Arducam 12MP PTZ camera working on a Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit. I ran the automatic installation script for the imx477 driver and it fails right away with this:

Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]

Has anyone run into this before? I’m not sure if I did something wrong during the install or if the board/camera itself is faulty.

Welcome to the forum. That error usually means the installer couldn’t match a driver package to your current JetPack/L4T version. Could you post the following so we can narrow it down:

  • Kernel version (output of uname -r)
  • Jetson model / carrier board
  • Exact camera module you’re using

Sure, here’s what I’ve got:

  • Kernel: 5.10.104-tegra-35.2.1-20230124153320
  • Jetson: NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit
  • Camera: Arducam 12MP Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera for Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano

Product page: https://www.arducam.com/product/arducam-12mp-pan-tilt-zoom-ptz-camera-fo-raspberry-pi-and-jetson-nano/

I followed the docs and ran the script as-is. No other errors appeared before that message.

Thanks, that clears it up. I checked your environment and the issue is that there is no imx477 driver released for L4T 35.2.1 yet. Your kernel 5.10.104-tegra-35.2.1-20230124153320 maps to L4T 35.2.1, and the install script looks for a matching deb package for that release. Since the package hasn’t been published, the script exits with that ‘cannot find the corresponding deb package’ message.

So nothing is wrong with the camera or the dev kit itself — it’s purely a version mismatch.

Ah okay, that makes sense. So what’s the recommended way forward? Can I try to force the install or manually build the driver on 35.2.1? I’d rather not reflash if I don’t have to.

I wouldn’t recommend forcing it or manually building against 35.2.1. The driver hasn’t been validated for that L4T release, so you’d likely hit compile or runtime issues, and it would be hard to troubleshoot.

The supported approach is to reflash your Xavier NX to a JetPack version that is on the supported list, then re-run the automatic installation script for the imx477 driver. The supported-version list is documented here:

https://docs.arducam.com/Nvidia-Jetson-Camera/Introduction-to-Arducam-Jetson-Cameras/

Once you’re on a supported JetPack version, the same script should find the correct deb package and complete the install.

Got it. Just to confirm — I should reflash the Xavier NX Developer Kit to one of the JetPack versions listed on that supported-version page, and only then run the imx477 install script again, right? No point trying again on 35.2.1?

Correct. Do not attempt the imx477 install on L4T 35.2.1. Reflash the Xavier NX to a JetPack version from the supported list at the link above, then re-run the automatic installation script.

To summarize: the failure was caused by the unsupported JetPack/L4T version (35.2.1), not by a hardware defect with the camera or the dev kit. Once you’re on a supported release, the script should pick up the correct deb package and proceed.
