Cannot find corresponding deb package for imx230 pivariety driver on kernel 5.10.104

Hey everyone, I’m stuck trying to get a camera working on my Jetson Orin Nano dev kit. When I run the install script it fails with “cannot find corresponding deb package”. Is this camera even compatible with my board? Also, if I used an imx230 camera instead, would that work through the pivariety driver? And one more thing — is there a way to get a 30-pin extension cable like the one sold for the imx219?

That “cannot find corresponding deb package” error usually means the script couldn’t locate a matching driver package for your JetPack/L4T version. Can you post your kernel version? Run uname -r on the board. Also, which exact camera model are you using?

Here’s the kernel version: 5.10.104-tetra-35.3.1-20230319081403. No custom code — just the standard Arducam install script. The only log output I get is “cannot find corresponding deb package”. I haven’t tried much beyond re-running the script a few times.

Thanks. So you’re on an Nvidia Orin Nano Developer Kit with an IMX519 camera. That kernel (5.10.104-tetra-35.3.1-20230319081403) maps to L4T 35.3.1, and 35.3.1 isn’t in the supported list for this camera driver yet — that’s exactly why the script can’t find a matching deb package. I checked internally: the IMX477 camera driver for L4T 35.3.1 is expected in about three months. In the meantime, the recommended path is to flash your JetPack to one of the versions on the supported list.

Okay, that makes sense. Which versions are supported though? I’d like to keep the board usable in the meantime. Also, did you get a chance to check the imx230 question — would it work through the pivariety driver? And I’m still trying to find a 30-pin extension cable like the imx219 one.

The supported L4T/JetPack versions are listed in the docs here: Introduction to Arducam Jetson Cameras - Arducam Wiki — burn your JetPack to one of those and the script should find the right deb package. On the cable: we don’t have a 30-pin extension cable for this setup (the one you mentioned is only for the imx219). For the imx230 through pivariety, let me confirm that separately.

Thanks for the link. So just to be clear — if I stay on 35.3.1, there’s no driver available right now and I’d have to wait? That’s the root cause of the deb package error?

Correct. Root cause: your current JetPack/L4T version (35.3.1) isn’t supported by the camera driver yet, so the installer can’t locate a corresponding deb package — that’s the “cannot find corresponding deb package” error. Two options: (1) flash JetPack to one of the versions on the supported list (link above), or (2) if you must stay on 35.3.1, wait for the driver release — expected in about three months. Keep in mind driver support is tied to the specific L4T/JetPack release, so an unsupported version will always result in missing deb packages. And to confirm, we don’t have a 30-pin extension cable for this setup.
