Cannot find camera example in Arduino IDE for Arducam HM01B0 on Raspberry Pi Pico

Hi, I’m trying to get the Arducam HM01B0 QVGA camera module working on a Raspberry Pi Pico. I’m following the official docs at Arducam HM01B0 QVGA Camera Module for Raspberry Pi Pico - Arducam Wiki and I got stuck at Step 2 while installing the libraries. The Arduino IDE throws an error and won’t finish the install. Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks for the details. Can you paste the exact error text from the Arduino IDE output? Also, which Arduino IDE version are you on and which Pico board package do you have installed? That will help narrow it down.

Here’s the exact error: “fetched archive size differs from size specified in the index. 11653739 !=11595776”. It fails every time at the same place when it tries to fetch and install the libraries. I have a feeling something is off with the JSON index file, because it never gets past that point.

You’re right, that size mismatch points to the package index JSON. I checked on our side and the JSON file did have a problem. I’ve updated it now. Please start the library installation over from scratch — remove anything it partially added and retry using the updated index — then let me know if it completes.

Okay, I wiped it and started over from scratch like you said. The libraries installed fine this time, no more size mismatch. Thanks for that. But now I’m on Step 3 of the docs and I can’t find the example. Under File > Examples there’s no “camera” subfolder at all in the Arduino IDE.

Let’s check a couple of things. Which board is selected under Tools > Board, and can you confirm the camera library actually shows as installed in the Library Manager? A screenshot of your File > Examples menu next to the documentation example would help me see exactly what’s missing.

I attached a screenshot showing the online documentation on the left and my setup on the right. The board is set to Raspberry Pi Pico and the library shows as installed, but the camera examples just aren’t there. I can’t get past Step 3.

Thanks for the screenshot. I compared it with the docs and I can confirm this isn’t something you did wrong — the camera module currently has some underlying software problems. We’ve identified that the HM01B0 module needs a software upgrade to resolve the missing examples issue. We’re working on the upgrade now and it will take some time. I don’t have a step-by-step workaround to share at the moment, so please hang tight. I’ll update this thread as soon as the upgraded package is ready.
