Hi everyone, I’m trying to get an IMX477 camera working on a Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit running JetPack 5.1. Before I mess anything up, is it actually possible to install the drivers for the IMX477 on this setup? I couldn’t find a clear answer anywhere.
Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Could you share a bit more about your environment? Specifically, the kernel version reported on your Xavier NX would be really helpful. You can get it by running ‘uname -r’ in a terminal. Also, which Jetson board do you have exactly?
Sure thing. Here’s what I’ve got:
- Jetson type: NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX Developer Kit
- Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.2.1-CTI-NX-V002-20230322
I went ahead and tried running the Arducam installer anyway, but it failed with this message:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
I’m not sure if I did something wrong or if my kernel just isn’t supported.
Thanks for the details, that’s really helpful. Based on the installer output and your kernel version, this isn’t something you did wrong. Arducam does not release a driver for kernel version 5.10.104, which is what your Xavier NX is running.
That’s why the installer can’t find a matching deb package and asks you to contact support.
I’d recommend checking the supported list before attempting the IMX477 driver installation:
https://docs.arducam.com/Nvidia-Jetson-Camera/Introduction-to-Arducam-Jetson-Cameras/
You’ll want to match your kernel version against the supported kernel list in that documentation.
Ah, that explains it. So the IMX477 driver just isn’t available for kernel 5.10.104 (5.10.104-tegra-35.2.1-CTI-NX-V002-20230322) right now. Do you have any idea when the drivers for this kernel will be released? I’d rather not reflash my board to a different JetPack version if I can avoid it.
Right, that’s correct — only the supported kernel versions listed in the Arducam documentation should be used for now, and 5.10.104 isn’t one of them yet.
As for timing, I can confirm the driver for kernel version 5.10.104 is planned for release. The current estimate is roughly two months from now. I don’t have a specific date yet, but you can expect the IMX477 driver for 5.10.104 to land around that timeframe. I’d suggest keeping an eye on the supported list in the documentation link above.
