Can 15 Arducam IMX477 Jetson cameras be used in OBS Studio on Windows?

I’ve got 15 Arducam IMX477 12MP cameras (SKU:B0250) that I originally bought for Jetson boards. I’d like to know if they can be converted or repurposed for use in OBS Studio running on Windows. Is that even possible, or am I stuck with the Jetson route?

That’s an interesting setup. Can you tell me a bit more about how you’re planning to connect them? The B0250 is the Jetson variant of the IMX477, so I want to understand what interface you’re expecting to use on the Windows side.

Honestly I’m not totally sure about the interface side of things. Main thing I want to know is whether drivers exist that work in OBS for these cameras. Do any OBS-compatible drivers exist for the IMX477 on Windows?

To be upfront, we haven’t personally tested this exact combination (Arducam IMX477 SKU:B0250 + OBS Studio on Windows), so my advice on this specific use case is a bit limited. But I can explain why this is tricky based on the hardware.

One idea I had — could I run the cameras through the Jetson Nano first, stream that to a browser, and then bring the browser window into OBS as a source? Would that be a workable route?

That’s a creative workaround. Before we go down that path, can you share your full setup? How many cameras, how many Nanos, and which OS is running OBS?

Sure. I’ve got 15x Arducam IMX477 12MP SKU:B0250 cameras and 8x Jetson Nanos. OBS Studio is on Windows. I’m traveling with this gear and really want to avoid carrying unnecessary hardware, so I was hoping to either run the cameras directly into Windows/OBS or go the Jetson → browser → OBS route. Where would I find the code to load this on Windows, in OBS, or on the Jetson Nano if that’s required?

Thanks for the details. So the core issue here is the interface. The SKU:B0250 is designed specifically for the Jetson platform and uses a MIPI CSI interface. Windows PCs don’t have a MIPI CSI camera input, and OBS Studio doesn’t talk to MIPI cameras directly — it expects standard UVC (USB Video Class) devices. That’s why there’s no driver you can load on Windows to make these cameras work directly.

So there’s no code or driver I can install on Windows to get them recognized in OBS at all? And what about the browser workaround with the Nano — is that actually viable, or am I just overcomplicating this?

Right, no code or driver on Windows will make a MIPI camera appear as a webcam in OBS on its own. The browser route through the Nano is technically something people do, but it adds latency and complexity, and you’d still be carrying the Nanos — which is exactly what you wanted to avoid. For OBS on Windows, the recommended path is to use UVC (USB Video Class) cameras instead. They’re plug-and-play on Windows and generally well-supported by OBS without extra hardware or complicated setups.

Makes sense. So basically these IMX477 MIPI cameras just aren’t the right tool for the Windows/OBS use case. Do you have any specific camera recommendations that are compatible with Windows and OBS?

Correct. To summarize: the Arducam IMX477 SKU:B0250 uses a MIPI CSI interface built for the Jetson platform, so it can’t be used directly with OBS Studio on Windows, and there’s no OBS-compatible Windows driver for it. For streaming into OBS on Windows, UVC cameras are the recommended plug-and-play alternative. I’ve sent you some compatible UVC camera options via private message — feel free to check those and let me know if any fit your setup.
