Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’m running a Camera Shield Plus with an IMX477 sensor and I cannot get any images out of it in any configuration. The weird part is the shield does recognize and initialize the sensor - it shows up fine - but it never actually works. Every attempt ends with a “USB transfer timeout error” and no image is generated. I’ve tested it over USB and also through code, trying different configs, and it’s always the same result. Anyone seen this before?
Thanks for the report. Before we dig into troubleshooting, can you confirm the exact hardware setup - are you using the Raspberry Pi HQ camera module with the Camera Shield Plus? I want to make sure we’re on the same page about the camera module and shield combination, since that affects which config to start with.
Here’s the exact module I have: Arducam Mini 12.3MP HQ Camera Compatible with Nvidia Jetson Nano and Xavier NX, 1/2.3 Inch IMX477 Camera Module with M12 Mount Lens. So it’s an IMX477, but it’s this particular version rather than the standard Raspberry Pi HQ camera. Is this version just not compatible with the Camera Shield Plus? And would the version you mentioned be the compatible one?
To be honest, I’m not certain whether that specific IMX477 module is fully compatible with the Camera Shield Plus. It’s also worth knowing that the standalone Camera Shield Plus isn’t sold anymore, which makes nailing down compatibility a bit harder. What I’d suggest first is trying the latest GUI tool along with the matching config files, in case the older ones are the problem:
GUI tool: Release Arducam USB Camera Shield UI v1.0.9 · ArduCAM/ArduCAM_USB_Camera_Shield_Config · GitHub
Load that IMX477 config in the GUI and see if the timeout error changes at all. If it still fails with the latest config, then it likely comes down to whether this particular module variant is supported by the shield at all.
