Hi all, I’m having trouble with my Multi camera adaptor module V2.2 on a Raspberry Pi. The camera is just not streaming video — I can’t get any live feed out of it. Has anyone run into this before? Not sure if it’s a wiring thing or a software/config issue, so any pointers would be great.
Sorry to hear that. Before we go deeper, could you post a couple of photos of your hardware setup — one at the Raspberry Pi end and one at the camera end? That helps rule out connection problems. In the meantime, please also run the camera bug report tool and attach the output. Here’s how:
- Reboot your Pi.
- Download the tool:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/Dion4cen/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/Tool/arducam-camera-bug-report - Make it executable:
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report - Run it:
./arducam-camera-bug-report
It’ll write an ‘arducam-bug-report.txt’ file in the current directory. Attach that file here and I’ll take a look.
Thanks for the steps. I ran the tool and it produced the file — arducam-bug-report.txt is attached. Fingers crossed it shows something useful, let me know what you find.
I’ve gone through the bug report and everything looks fine on that side — nothing in it clearly explains a ‘camera not streaming’ symptom. Can you describe exactly what’s happening? What’s the actual problem you’re running into?
Sorry, I should have been more specific from the start. My setup is three imx477 mini cameras on the Multi camera module v2.2 with a Raspberry Pi 4. I can capture still images from each camera individually — that works fine. The problem is I can’t get real-time video from all three cameras at the same time. When I run previewOpencv.py it times out with these errors:
[0:04:17.187641106] [2752] WARN V4L2 v4l2_videodevice.cpp:2096 /dev/video0[45:cap]: Dequeue timer of 1000000.00us has expired!
[0:04:17.187847718] [2752] ERROR RPI pipeline_base.cpp:1363 Camera frontend has timed out!
[0:04:17.187869107] [2752] ERROR RPI pipeline_base.cpp:1364 Please check that your camera sensor connector is attached securely.
[0:04:17.187886662] [2752] ERROR RPI pipeline_base.cpp:1365 Alternatively, try another cable and/or sensor.
I’ve attached the full output from previewOpencv.py too. Does anyone have a Python or C++ script that can open three video windows for all three cameras at once? That’s basically what I’m trying to get working.
Thanks, that clarifies things. Since the bug report looks clean and individual still capture works, the adapter and camera connections are probably fine. The timeouts (V4L2 dequeue timer expired / camera frontend timed out) only show up when you try to stream all three cameras simultaneously, so this looks more like a timing/bandwidth problem with three live streams at once than a hardware fault.
Current status: still capture per camera works, but simultaneous live preview of all three with previewOpencv.py is still timing out. We’re still looking into why the three-camera stream can’t keep up, so I don’t have a confirmed fix yet. If anyone else has run three imx477 cameras with previewOpencv.py on a Pi 4, feel free to jump in.
