I’m trying to get the Arducam Pivariety 18MP AR1820HS camera module (model B0367) working with a Jetson Xavier NX but it just won’t come up. The module is advertised for RPi 4B/3B+/3A+/CM3/CM4 and Jetson Nano/Xavier NX, so I expected it to be more or less plug and play.
I tested it on a reComputer J2021 (Jetson Xavier NX 8GB) and the camera is never detected - nothing usable at all. I’ve attached the test report with what we saw.
My question: do I need any additional accessory or a special adapter/cable to connect this camera to the Xavier NX? Is there a connection manual/guide somewhere? We plan to use a lot of these together with the Jetson boards, so I really need them to work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the report - the details in it are helpful. Before we look at cabling, I’d say the most likely cause here is a Jetpack version mismatch rather than a wiring problem.
Our Arducam driver is built against a specific Jetson Jetpack/L4T release. If the board is running a different Jetpack version, the driver won’t load and the camera simply won’t be detected - which matches what you’re describing. I’ve attached the list of supported versions so you can compare against your setup.
Could you tell us the exact Jetpack version on the reComputer J2021? The output of:
cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
would tell us straight away.
One more thing to keep in mind: we’ve only verified this module on the official adapter board, so if you’re wiring it a different way that could be a factor too.
I’ll also reach out to you through private message, please check it.
Following up on this - we still need support with the B0367 on Jetson. The issue is about the B0367 used on the Jetson Nano as well, and it can’t work with the Jetson Xavier either.
We already sent a report about this (attached again). Please reply to us ASAP, we’re blocked on this.
We did see the note that the Jetpack version we’re using is not compatible with the camera driver, and that the module was only tested on the Jetson Nano / official adapter board. Can you advise what to do next? We tried connecting it but it can’t be used with the Jetson Xavier.
Thanks, and sorry for the wait. Now that we have the versions it’s clearer:
Your device is running Jetpack 32.7.3
The Arducam camera driver targets Jetpack 32.7.1
The driver Jetpack version (32.7.1) does not match the device Jetpack version (32.7.3), which is why the camera won’t come up. The error message shown on the device also gives tips about this version incompatibility.
Fix: use the NVIDIA SDK Manager to burn (flash) the device’s Jetpack down to 32.7.1 so it matches the camera driver. Once you’ve reflashed to 32.7.1, retry the camera.
To be clear - the mismatch is the blocker here. Jetpack 32.7.3 is not compatible with the driver which needs 32.7.1. Let us know how it goes after the reflash.
Hi, we’re still looking forward to hearing from you about the B0367 + Jetson Xavier/NX usage issue.
For reference, the device is on Jetpack 32.7.3 and the driver needs 32.7.1, and the error seems to point at this. We tried the test again after all the notes, but we still can’t connect - report attached.
Unfortunately this is still unresolved on our side.
Could you please advise how to download the device Jetpack version 32.7.1?
Same situation as before: the B0367 won’t work with the Jetson Xavier, device on 32.7.3 vs driver 32.7.1. We just need guidance on where/how to get Jetpack 32.7.1 and burn it onto the device. Posting again since we haven’t heard back. Thanks.
Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the slow reply.
For the Jetpack 32.7.1 download and burn flow, the most useful reference for this exact driver-compatibility problem on Jetson Nano/NX is this Arducam forum thread:
It covers the IMX477 driver compatibility problem on Jetson Nano/Xavier NX and walks through matching the driver to the right Jetpack version, which is the same class of issue you’re hitting.
To summarize where we are: the camera won’t come up because your device Jetpack (32.7.3) doesn’t match the driver requirement (32.7.1). The approach is to reflash the device to Jetpack 32.7.1 with the NVIDIA SDK Manager so the versions line up, then retry the camera. Please follow the thread above for the details. If it still can’t connect after reflashing to 32.7.1, post the output of cat /etc/nv_tegra_release, ls /dev/video* and dmesg | grep -i arducam here and we’ll dig in further.
