Hi everyone, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’m trying to use a camarray HAT with IMX219 cameras on an NVIDIA Orin NX, but I can’t get anything working. The driver installation keeps failing and even a standalone IMX219 connected directly to the carrier board does nothing. Has anyone run into this before?
Thanks for posting. To help narrow this down, can you share a bit more about your setup? Specifically the carrier board you’re using, the kernel version, and the exact error you see during the driver install.
Sure. It’s a CTI Hadron Dual MIPI + Orin NX carrier board with an NVIDIA Orin NX module. Kernel version is 5.15.136-tegra-36.3.0-CTI-ORIN-NX-NANO-V001-20240626. When I try to install the camera driver I get this error:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.15.136-tegra-36.3.0-CTI-ORIN-NX-NANO-V001-20240626
Jetson type: CTI Hadron Dual MIPI + Orin NX
I wasn’t sure what that meant, so I figured I’d ask here first.
Got it, that error usually means the installer doesn’t have a prebuilt deb matching your exact kernel/board combination. Can you walk me through what you’ve tried so far? For example, did you attempt the camarray HAT setup first, and then try a single IMX219 directly on the carrier board?
Yeah, exactly. My first attempt was installing the driver with the camarray HAT and IMX219 cameras attached, and that’s where I hit the ‘cannot find the corresponding deb package’ error. Then as a test I disconnected everything and tried just one IMX219 plugged straight into the carrier board, but it still didn’t work at all. No camera detection, nothing.
Thanks, that’s helpful. Based on what you’ve described, this looks like a compatibility issue with the Hadron DM carrier board rather than a defect in the cameras or the driver itself. The Hadron DM is a third-party product, and the camarray HAT plus IMX219 cameras are designed and tested primarily against standard NVIDIA Jetson developer kits. Third-party carrier boards often have custom design changes that can affect how peripherals like cameras behave.
I was afraid of that. So is there any workaround or a different driver I should try for this board?
Unfortunately there isn’t a fix available for this specific configuration. The issue is attributed to third-party carrier board compatibility, not a software or driver bug that we can patch. Arducam cameras are only guaranteed/tested on standard NVIDIA Jetson developer kits, so on boards like the CTI Hadron DM carrier the behavior can’t be predicted. If you have access to a standard Jetson dev kit, the same cameras should behave normally there, but on the Hadron carrier board I don’t have a workaround to offer at this point.
