Hi all, I’m stuck trying to get a Camarray HAT working on my Jetson Orin NX. Right now my image processing setup uses two IMX219 160IR cameras on the Orin NX and that part works fine. I bought the Camarray HAT because I want to move to four IMX219 160IR cameras, but the HAT just isn’t being recognized at all. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Welcome. Let’s start with the basics so I can match it to the right hardware. Which exact Jetson module and RAM are you on, which Camarray kit/SKU did you get, and what cameras are connected to the HAT right now?
Platform is a Jetson Orin NX 16GB. The product is SKU B0388 — the 16MP IMX519 Autofocus Synchronized Quad-Camera Kit for Raspberry Pi / NVIDIA Jetson Nano / Xavier NX / AGX Orin / Orin Nano / Orin NX. Existing cameras are the two IMX219 160IR units, plus the Camarray HAT. Also, a bigger question before I sink more time into this: can any Camarray HAT support four IMX219 160IR cameras, even if hardware synchronization isn’t required? I need to know if this kit can actually do what I want.
Thanks, that’s helpful. On the sync question: the B0388 HAT is designed around the IMX519 cameras bundled with the kit, so four IMX219 160IR cameras are not the intended configuration for that board — and that will tie into your other camera question below. For the detection issue, do you have a device tree in place yet, and is there any dmesg/kernel log from when the cameras fail to show up?
The device tree is exactly where I’m stuck. I need to write one to capture images through the Camarray HAT on the Orin NX, and I can’t find the i2c switch model used on B0388 in the docs. Is it something like t9548 or p9547? That detail is blocking me. Separately, since the kit includes IMX219 cameras, can I just use my existing IMX219 160IR cameras to replace the bundled ones? I assumed same sensor = compatible. Here’s a picture of the current setup:

Let me check the switch part number against the B0388 design. In the meantime, can you paste whatever device tree source you have so far, plus any boot logs? Even partial dmesg output would tell me whether the i2c mux node is missing or if the cameras are failing later in enumeration.
I don’t have logs to share — I haven’t actually gotten it working yet and haven’t recorded any troubleshooting attempts on my side. The device tree file is still ‘to be written’, so no code either. I’m basically blocked on the switch model name before I can even test.
Understood. I checked the B0388 board details: the i2c switch model in B0388 is pca954. So use pca954 in your device tree — it’s not t9548 or p9547.
On the camera swap: “cannot use IMX219 160IR to replace the IMX219 cameras included in the bundle”. Even though both are IMX219 sensors, they’re not interchangeable for this kit.
To wrap up where we are:
- Use pca954 as the i2c switch model when you write the device tree file.
- Keep the bundled IMX219 cameras on the B0388 HAT; the IMX219 160IR cameras can’t replace them.
- Once the device tree is written with the pca954 mux, boot and capture dmesg output and we can continue debugging the detection issue from there.
