Buildroot, CM5, Arducam Pivariety, Upstream libcamera won't work

I made a buildroot image for Raspberry Pi CM5. My Arducam pivariety cameras can’t be detected when I compile upstream raspberrypi/libcamera and their libcamera-apps package. Arducam’s downstream arducam/libcamera won’t compile because it requires arducam pivariety sdk dev package and it’s I guess only available as pre-compiled binaries in a deb package.

It’s not a driver issue, media devices are populated. This is a user space library issue.

Since this is a buildroot image and Arducam’s official installation script highly depends on dpkg and debian packages, I can’t use the script too.

I don’t know what to do at this point. I’m ready to share further information.

Hi Hasan,
Could you share more details about your buildroot image? Is it running an Ubuntu or Raspbian OS, or stuff like that?

Hi Dion,

The image is generated entirely with Buildroot, so it isn’t based on Ubuntu or Raspberry Pi OS. It’s a custom embedded Linux image built from selected packages and a Buildroot-generated root filesystem.

I use raspberry’s downstream kernel (rpi-6.12.y)

Buildroot image is built on top of the commit: a52df2cc85
