B0444 Starvis/Mediamtx

I’m successfully using the B0444 running on a raspi zero 2w. my rpi-cam commands work fine and so is python using picamera2.

HOwever, when I try to run mediamtx to stream the camera source to webrtc, I get the following error from the mediamtx server:

I've also tried to run variations of the mediamtx server using docker including the rpi version but in that case, I get a permission denied error for the /dev files created by the server. Please advise. I assume this is because of Arducam's custom libcam?

My ultimate goal here is I am trying to stream to a webpage continuously, record on demand, and detect on demand. Getting all that working together is stumping me.

Hi,
That’s it.

Did you install the Arducam customer libcamera software on your Pi before?

Otherwise, how does the mediamtx server call the camera? It looks like it’s using the native libcamera software.

Calls using rpicam as in raspi docs.

paths:
cam:
source: rpiCamera

I’m trying to get really low latency over network to a browser. But also recording to .h264 locally when a detection event occurs.

@dion you’ve been as helpful as you can. But, I’m deciding I’ve spent too much time dealing with non standard libcam issues, updating firmware, and downstream frurstation. I was really hoping to use the lowlight camera for my underwater production application but I can’t seem to get all this working:

  1. using mediamtx to handle h264 streaming from the hardware encoders as I need cpu headroom to do detection and recording locally.

  2. I can successfully use picamera2 to control the camera. But, I can’t get the browser MJPEG stream stable using FASTApi. I can successfully stream using picamera2 mjpeg_server_2.py but its not stable in an ascyncio environment (breaks if multiple browswers hit it or directly hits the stream endpoint).

I can’t seem to solve 2 without 1 so I’m in a box.
