B0440 camera array not found on Raspberry Pi 4 after following IMX708 guide

Hi all, I’m trying to get a B0440 camera array working on a Raspberry Pi 4, but I keep running into a ‘camera not found’ error every time I try to record anything. There’s no setup guide specifically for the B0440 camera array, so I’ve been kind of guessing my way through it based on other docs.

Welcome! Let’s get this sorted. Could you tell me a bit more about your exact setup - which Pi model you’re on and which installation guide you’ve been following so far? That’ll help me understand what steps you’ve already taken.

Sure - it’s a Raspberry Pi 4. Since I couldn’t find a guide for the B0440 itself, I followed the IMX708 camera installation guide, since that looked like the closest match for the sensor. I went through all the install steps, but the camera still shows up as not found. I’ve attached the error output and the dmesg log from one of my attempts:

Thanks, I’ve gone through the dmesg output and the error log you attached. Before we dig deeper, could you post a few photos of how the camera array is physically connected to the Pi? Cable seating and wiring are a common cause of ‘camera not found’, so that will help us rule out a connection problem.

Will do, I’ll grab some photos of the connections. Is there anything else I can run in the meantime to give you more to go on?

Yes - please also generate a bug report using our diagnostic tool so we can see the full camera and driver state. Here’s how:

  1. Reboot the Pi.
  2. Download the tool:
    wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report
  3. Make it executable:
    chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
  4. Run it:
    ./arducam-camera-bug-report
  5. That will produce an ‘arducam-bug-report.txt’ file in the current directory. Attach it to your reply (or send it via PM if you’d rather not post it publicly).

To summarize where we stand: there’s no fix identified yet - we’re still in the diagnosis phase. The bug report plus the photos of your hardware connection are what we need to figure out why the B0440/IMX708 isn’t being detected by the Pi 4. Once you send those over, we can keep digging.
