Hi everyone, I’m trying to get an Arducam B0176 camera working on my Raspberry Pi (running OctoPrint) but it’s not being detected. When I run vcgencmd get_camera I get supported=1 detected=0. The red LED on the camera board does light up, so it seems to be getting some power. I’ve gone through all the setup steps and tried both ribbon cables that came with the camera, but I get the same result either way. Any ideas?
supported=1 detected=0 basically means the OS is compiled with camera support, but the Pi can’t actually see the module on the CSI bus. Before digging deeper, it’s worth starting from a clean state. Can you reflash to Bullseye OS and then set up the camera following the official Raspberry Pi documentation? https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/camera_software.html
Just reflashed to Bullseye and went through the camera software configuration on the Raspberry Pi site. Unfortunately it’s still the same result, vcgencmd get_camera still reports detected=0.
Thanks for trying that. Let’s pull a diagnostic report so I can see what the Pi is actually seeing. Reboot your device, then run these commands:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
./arducam-camera-bug-report
That will generate a file called arducam-bug-report.txt in the current directory. Please send it to me via private message so I can analyze it.
Done. I ran the bug report tool and it generated arducam-bug-report.txt. I’ve sent the file over to you in a private message.
Got the report, thanks. Based on what’s in there, the Pi isn’t detecting the camera module at all. Before we go further, can you post a picture of the hardware connection? Specifically where the ribbon cable is plugged into the Pi board.
Sure, here’s a picture of my connection. Let me know if you need a different angle or any other info.
Found it. Looking at the photo, your ribbon cable is plugged into the DISPLAY port, not the CSI camera port. That explains everything — the camera still gets power (hence the red LED) but it’s not on the camera bus, so you get detected=0. Move the cable over to the CSI port.
That was it! I moved the ribbon cable to the CSI port and now the camera is detected and working. I honestly hadn’t noticed there were two ribbon connectors on the Pi. Thanks a lot for the help!
