Hi everyone, I’m stuck with an Arducam ToF camera that just won’t work. I’ve got it hooked up to a Raspberry Pi 4 running Bullseye, and the camera doesn’t show up at all when I try to use it. I’ve attached a photo of my current setup. Not sure if it’s a wiring thing or something with the OS. Any ideas?
Thanks for the report. It would help to see both ends of the cable. Can you post one picture of the connector at the Raspberry Pi end and one at the camera end? I want to check which port the ribbon is seated in and how the cable is oriented. We’ll also want a bug report from the camera stack later, so keep the Pi powered on and ready.
Sure, here are the photos. The ribbon cable is going into the connector right next to the display connector on the Pi. I assumed that was the camera port since it’s the only free one. The cable clicks in fine and the camera end looks seated too. Still nothing shows up though.
Thanks, got them. Before we dig into the physical side, let’s pull a bug report so I can see what the system is detecting. Reboot the Pi, then run these in a terminal:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/Dion4cen/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/Tool/arducam-camera-bug-report
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
./arducam-camera-bug-report
It will create arducam-bug-report.txt in the current directory. Attach that file to your next reply.
Alright, I rebooted and ran the tool. It generated arducam-bug-report.txt, which I’ve attached here. I also took another photo of how the ribbon cable is seated at the Pi end. The camera still isn’t working.
I looked at the bug report and the new photo. The problem is the cable is in the DSI port - that’s the display connector. The camera needs to go in the CSI port. They sit right next to each other and the ribbon fits in both, but they’re wired completely differently. DSI is for displays only, not cameras. Move the ribbon cable over to the CSI camera port, then reboot and check if the ToF camera shows up. That should be the fix.
