Hi everyone, I’m having trouble getting an ArduCAM OV9281 1MP global shutter monochrome NOIR camera module (M12 mount lens) detected on my Jetson setup. I followed the Arducam Quick Start Guide (Quick Start Guide - Arducam Wiki) and installed the required camera drivers, but the device still isn’t detected.
My setup:
Platform: Jetson Nano and Jetson Xavier NX
Carrier board: Seeed Studio A203 V2 (supports both Nano and Xavier NX modules)
L4T kernel: 35.5.2
JetPack: 4.5.1 (NVIDIA) on Ubuntu 18
One thing I’m not clear on: are the provided drivers only for the official NVIDIA Jetson Developer Kits, or should they also work on compatible boards running the same Nano/Xavier NX modules?
Thanks for the details. Just to confirm, are you seeing the same behavior on both the Nano and the Xavier NX modules using that A203 V2 carrier? And when you say not detected, do you mean no /dev/video nodes show up, or does the driver load but the sensor isn’t enumerated?
Yes, same on both modules. I’ve installed the drivers exactly as described in the guide, but the camera never shows up. I don’t see any video nodes for it and the device isn’t enumerated. The carrier board is the Seeed Studio A203 V2 for the SoM.
Thanks. Based on the environment you’ve described, this looks like a carrier-board compatibility issue. The Arducam camera driver is not compatible with third-party carrier boards like the Seeed Studio A203. The driver/device-tree support is only officially validated on the supported NVIDIA Jetson developer kits, so on a third-party board the CSI/device-tree setup may not match what the driver expects.
That’s what I was worried about. So how can the Arducam drivers be made to work on a custom carrier board? Is there source code available that we can build against and adapt for this board?
Right now the Arducam camera driver is only officially compatible with the supported NVIDIA Jetson developer kits. For third-party carrier boards, Arducam can provide the driver source code, but the compatibility changes for your specific board (in this case the Seeed Studio A203) would need to be made on your side. I’ve sent you a private message with the details for requesting the source code from our sales team.
