ArduCAM MIPI_Camera install script cannot find deb package for Jetson Nano 32.7.4

I’m trying to get my Arducam MIPI camera working on a Jetson Nano. I ran the automatic installation script from the MIPI_Camera releases (v0.0.3) and it fails right away with: “Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]”. Has anyone seen this before?

Could you share a bit more about your setup? Which Jetson model and kernel version are you on? That error usually means the script couldn’t match a deb package for your JetPack version.

Sure. It’s an NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit with Arducam cameras. uname -r shows 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4-20230608212426. I’m on JetPack 32.7.4 I believe.

Thanks. Which release of the install script did you grab? Just want to confirm we’re looking at the same one.

It’s the one from Release Automatic installation script · ArduCAM/MIPI_Camera · GitHub. I dug into the script and it looks like there’s a package for 32.7.3 but nothing for 32.7.4. I double-checked the available package list and 32.7.3 is there, 32.7.4 is missing.

That matches what I’m seeing. The MIPI camera driver deb packages are built per JetPack version, and right now 32.7.4 (released June 2023) doesn’t have a matching package. The script checks your kernel/version, can’t find a deb for 4.9.337-tegra-32.7.4, and exits with that error. It’s not something you can force with a 32.7.3 package - the kernel and module versions need to line up.

So there’s no way to just use the 32.7.3 deb on 32.7.4? What’s the recommended route to get the camera going?

Correct, mixing the 32.7.3 deb with the 32.7.4 kernel tends to cause module load issues, so it’s not advised. The supported path for the Arducam MIPI driver is to reflash the Nano back to JetPack 32.7.3, then rerun the script - it’ll find the matching deb. If you’re using native camera modules like imx219 or imx477 instead, you can configure those through Jetson-io: Jetson-io - Arducam Wiki

Got it, that makes sense. I’ll reflash to 32.7.3 and give it another go. Thanks for the Jetson-io link too.

No problem. To summarize: JetPack 32.7.4 isn’t supported for the Arducam MIPI camera driver, so there’s no matching deb package. Reflash to JetPack 32.7.3 to install the camera driver with the script. For native imx219/imx477 modules, Jetson-io is the alternative. Post back if the script still complains after the reflash.
