Arducam Mega setup on Arduino Uno: Windows x64 installer link not working

Hi, hoping someone here can help. We’re trying to set up an Arducam Mega for one of our customers and we’re completely stuck. The problem is we can’t get hold of the file that lets us use the ArducamSpiCamera example — the download link just doesn’t work, so we never get the GUI tool. Once we have that tool we should finally be able to get a feed off the camera.

Setup: Arduino Uno board with the Arducam Mega. All the pins are set up correctly as far as I can tell. We’re on Windows x64.

The link we were pointed at is:
https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_Mega/releases/download/v1.0.0/ArducamMegaSetup_Windows_x64.exe

Clicking it just fails / the file isn’t there. I’ve done a fair bit of searching around for another way to get the installer but nothing works. Is there any chance of a new link, or another method to get the file?

Thanks for posting. Let me make sure I have the full picture before we go further:

  • Windows 64-bit
  • Arduino Uno + Arducam Mega
  • You need the GUI tool (ArducamMegaSetup) so you can run the ArducamSpiCamera example
  • The v1.0.0 link for ArducamMegaSetup_Windows_x64.exe is not downloading

Two quick questions:

  1. When you click the v1.0.0 link, what exactly happens — a 404, or does the download start and then fail?
  2. Have all the pins been wired according to the Uno wiring guide for the Mega (SPI pins + CS)?

I’ve forwarded this to the engineering team. Heads up that they’re pretty loaded this week, so it may take some time to get an answer back. I’ll keep you posted.

Just following up to check the original request came through. Same situation as before: we’re setting up the Arducam Mega and the customer can’t use the ArducamSpiCamera example because we can’t receive the file — the link isn’t working.

Still using the Arduino Uno board with the Arducam Mega, pins all correctly set up.

Same broken link:
https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_Mega/releases/download/v1.0.0/ArducamMegaSetup_Windows_x64.exe

We’ve asked for a new link or an alternative method, and done our own research to find a way around it, but no method works. Any update?

Quick update: I’ve chased the engineers about this case. They’ve got a very heavy workload this week, so they need a bit more time to process it. I’ll push them again on it next week.

Really sorry about the long wait on this one — I know it’s frustrating when you’re blocked on a file. I’ll come back to you as soon as I have something.

Any chance the team has had a look at this yet? We’re still stuck on the exact same thing: trying to set up the Arducam Mega for one of our customers, and we can’t get the file that allows use of the ArducamSpiCamera example because the download link isn’t working.

Arduino Uno board with the Arducam Mega, pins set up correctly. Still the same URL that fails:
https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_Mega/releases/download/v1.0.0/ArducamMegaSetup_Windows_x64.exe

We’ve had no luck with any workaround, so we’re really just waiting on the file. Thanks.

Okay, finally got an answer on this one — sorry it took so long.

The v1.0.0 download link for the GUI tool isn’t working / isn’t downloadable, so there was nothing for you to grab at that URL. We’ve upgraded the tool version to 0.0.1 and there’s a working link now:

https://github.com/ArduCAM/Arducam_Mega/releases/download/v1.0.1/ArducamMegaSetup_Windows_x64.exe

Grab that installer, run it, and use it with the ArducamSpiCamera example on your Uno. If you run into any problems with it, let us know and we’ll dig in.

Thanks, but I’m a bit confused — I don’t actually have any earlier reply from you with a working link. I’ve only got the back-and-forth in this thread saying it was with the engineers. Did something get sent to me that I’m not seeing?

Ah, that would explain it — we did send the updated info earlier, but it looks like it may not have reached you. Could you check whether it got moved into your trash/spam folder? In the meantime, here it is again so you have it in the thread.

Summary of where we landed:

(Note the tag is v1.0.1, whereas the broken link you reported used v1.0.0 — that’s the part that changed.)

Install that and try running the ArducamSpiCamera example on your Uno again. If anything still doesn’t come through or the tool misbehaves, reply here and we’ll keep digging.
