If I want to use an external antenna is there anything I have to do on the board itself other than plugging in the antenna to the IPEX Connector?

You’re kidding, right? That’s the tiniest resistor. I have a pencil soldering tip but even that looks like a plumbers chisel tip.

Can you buy the board with the resistor set to external antenna?

I bought myself a set of magnifying glasses with an LED with which I managed to remove the resistor and get a solder blob across the two pads. Took a long time with trying/failing/waiting to cool down.

 

Now my WiFi scan sketch sees 12 networks in range whereas with the board antenna I could only see three. My router is now -27dbm whereas before it was -63dbm. That external antenna (8dbi) makes a huge difference.

 

I have to ask again can you buy the board with the resistor set to external antenna? Would I need a minimum order amount? If so, how many?
