ArduCam IMX708 driver install fails on Jetson Orin Nano: deb package not found

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get an ArduCam IMX708 (12MP) camera module working on my Jetson Orin Nano. I ran the driver install script with the model flag but it’s failing. Here’s what I did:

./install_full.sh -m imx708

It spits out this error and stops:

Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]

Anyone seen this before? Not sure what’s going on.

That error usually means the script can’t locate a pre-compiled driver package for your particular kernel and platform combination. Can you share your environment details? Specifically the kernel version and Jetson model info. You can grab those with:

uname -r
cat /proc/device-tree/model

That’ll help narrow things down.

Sure, here you go:

  • Kernel: 5.15.148-tegra-36.4.7-20250918154033
  • Device: NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Engineering Reference Developer Kit Super

I’m on L4T 36.4.7 if that helps. The camera is the ArduCam IMX708 12MP module connected via the CSI ribbon.

Thanks for the details. So here’s the issue: the install_full.sh script tries to pull a pre-built deb package that matches your kernel (5.15.148-tegra-36.4.7) and platform (T234 / Orin Nano). It looks like the IMX708 driver hasn’t been pre-compiled and published for that exact kernel build yet, so the script bails out with that “cannot find” message.

This isn’t uncommon when new L4T releases drop — sometimes the driver packages for specific camera models take a bit of time to catch up, or that particular kernel revision just doesn’t have a matching build in the public repo.

I’ve gone ahead and put together a custom build of the IMX708 driver compiled against your exact kernel (5.15.148-tegra-36.4.7) for the T234-NX (Orin Nano) platform. I’ve sent you the deb package via private message — please check your inbox for the download link.

Once you’ve downloaded the package, install it with dpkg — make sure you use the exact filename as provided:

sudo dpkg -i arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel-t234-nx-5.15.148-tegra-36.4.7-20251030133146_arm64_imx708.deb

After installation, reboot and the camera should show up under /dev/video*. You can verify with:

v4l2-ctl --list-devices

Let us know how it goes.
