Arducam IMX519 install fails on Orin Nano: missing deb package for kernel 5.10

Hey all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’m trying to set up an Arducam IMX519 (the 16MP autofocus one sold for Raspberry Pi) on my Orin Nano Developer Kit. I ran:

./install_full.sh -m imx519

and it fails right away with:

Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]

Has anyone seen this before? Also, longer term I want to use this camera from ROS Noetic and get sensor_msgs out of it. If anyone has steps for that part too, that would be great.

Hi, welcome. That error typically means the installer can’t find a prebuilt deb that matches your kernel/L4T release. Could you post the exact command you ran, the full output, and your environment details? Run:

uname -r
cat /etc/os-release

and also let us know the exact camera module you’re using.

Sure. Here’s the environment:

uname -r
5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403

cat /etc/os-release
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
Release: 20.04
Codename: focal

Board: NVIDIA Orin Nano Developer Kit
Camera: Arducam 16MP autofocus camera for Raspberry Pi (https://www.arducam.com/16mp-autofocus-camera-for-raspberry-pi/)

Exact command:
./install_full.sh -m imx519

Full output:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.3.1-20230319081403
Jetson type: NVIDIA Orin Nano Developer Kit

I was following the native camera quick start guide here: Quick-Start-Guide - Arducam Wiki

Thanks, that’s all useful. Just to confirm: is this the Raspberry Pi variant of the IMX519 with the separate adapter, and not a Jetson-specific bundle? The matching logic depends on the camera model and the L4T release.

Right, it’s the Raspberry Pi version of the 16MP autofocus IMX519. I only have the one camera. The command I used was exactly ./install_full.sh -m imx519, same as the guide. So is there something wrong with my environment, or is the package just missing for my setup?

Based on the kernel string tegra-35.3.1, you’re on L4T 35.3.1. The IMX519 driver for that release isn’t published yet. The installer tries to match a deb for your L4T version, doesn’t find one, and exits with that ‘Cannot find the corresponding deb package’ message. The driver for L4T 35.3.1 is expected to be released in about two months.

Got it, so that error is basically expected on 35.3.1 right now. So my options are either wait, or flash a different Jetpack version. If I flash, which version should I go to so ./install_full.sh -m imx519 actually finds a package? And I still need to know how to get sensor_msgs from the camera in ROS Noetic once it’s working.

Yes, those are the two options. If you reflash, use one of the supported Jetpack versions listed here: Introduction to Arducam Jetson Cameras - Arducam Wiki and then run the same command unchanged:

./install_full.sh -m imx519

For the ROS Noetic part: I don’t have any suggestions to offer for integrating this camera and publishing sensor_msgs. That’s outside what I can help with here. To summarize: either wait for the 35.3.1 driver (around two months) or reflash to a supported Jetpack version from the list above.
