Arducam IMX519 driver install fails: Cannot find package on Ubuntu 22.04 arm64

Hi all, I’m trying to get an Arducam Auto Focus 16MP camera (IMX519) working on a Raspberry Pi running Ubuntu Server 22.04. The plan is to use it in a ROS2 project. I ran the driver install script and it immediately fails with:

Cannot find the corresponding package, please send the following information to [email protected]

Has anyone seen this? Not sure what package it’s looking for.

Can you paste the full output around that error? The installer usually prints the hardware revision, kernel version, and the package it tried to resolve. That will help narrow down why it can’t find a match.

Sure, here’s what it reported:

Hardware Revision: d03115
Kernel Version: 5.15.0-1035-raspi
Package: imx519 – Jammy Jellyfish-arm64

The OS is Ubuntu Server 22.04 (Jammy), arm64. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks. Just to confirm the setup: this is a Raspberry Pi (the 5.15.0-1035-raspi kernel gives it away) with the IMX519 autofocus module, and you’re planning to drive it from ROS2 on Ubuntu Server, correct?

Correct, Raspberry Pi with Ubuntu Server 22.04, and the goal is to use the IMX519 inside a ROS2 pipeline. I was hoping the standard Arducam driver would install first and then I’d bring it into ROS2.

Got it. I checked the available packages for that combination. The imx519 driver is not published for Jammy arm64 on Raspberry Pi, and specifically Arducam doesn’t release the imx519 driver for ROS2 on Raspberry Pi. That’s why the installer can’t find a corresponding package — there isn’t one for this platform/OS combination.

So it’s not a mistake on my side? Is there a different package name or an older version I should be trying?

Not that I’m aware of. The installer is behaving as expected given the target combination. The underlying issue is that Arducam doesn’t support the imx519 camera working this way — Ubuntu OS with ROS2 on Raspberry Pi. As of now there’s no driver package released for that setup, so I don’t have a supported workaround to suggest.
