Arducam IMX519 camera not detected via Ethernet extension kit on Raspberry Pi 4

Hi all, I’m trying to connect an Arducam IMX519 autofocus camera to my Raspberry Pi 4 using the ethernet extension kit, but I keep getting ERROR: *** no cameras available ***. The camera works fine when I plug it directly into the Pi, so the camera itself seems okay. The weird part is that it did work briefly through the extension kit at one point, but then it stopped working again. I’ve already tried a couple of different ethernet extensions and they all give me the same error. Running on a Raspberry Pi 4 with the IMX519 Arducam autofocus cam and the ethernet extension kit.

Thanks for the details. Just to make sure I understand the symptom correctly: when you say it worked for a short time and then stopped, do you mean it can actually work through the ethernet extension kit, but it won’t stay working for long? In other words, is the connection unstable rather than completely dead?

Yeah, that’s basically it. Last time I tested, it ran for about 3 minutes and then dropped again. Now when I try it fails straight away with ERROR: *** no cameras available ***. Same setup: Raspberry Pi 4, IMX519 Arducam autofocus camera, ethernet extension kit.

I tested the same ethernet extension kit with an IMX519 here and it worked very well. One thing I noticed is that I was using the LAN cable that came in the package. Can you confirm whether you’re using the LAN cable that was included with the kit, or a different one? From your description the connection looks intermittent - it works for about 3 minutes, then fails, and now it errors immediately. The cable is one suspect since my test with the furnished cable was stable, but the intermittent behavior still needs more diagnosis. Let me know about the cable and we can go from there.
