Hi, I have an Arducam IMX519 with autofocus on a Raspberry Pi 4B+. I followed the online documentation, but I’ve never been able to get it to work. It actually arrived with the socket cover broken and parts separated. Here’s what it looks like:
Thanks for posting the photo. That broken socket cover is a red flag - the flex cable may not be held firmly enough to make contact. Can you check whether the ribbon cable can be seated at all, or is the clamp completely broken off? Also, are the separated parts from the connector area or elsewhere on the board?
I only ever tried connecting the camera to the Pi, and it never worked. The plastic cover on the socket doesn’t snap down, so the cable just sits loose. The separated parts are from around the connector.
That would explain why the camera never showed up. If the socket cover can’t clamp the flex cable, the sensor won’t be detected. Could you upload a closer photo of the connector and the separated parts? I want to see whether the contacts on the board are damaged or if it’s only the plastic latch.
Here’s a closer look at the connector area. The socket cover is cracked off and a small piece came separated from the module. It was like this out of the box, I didn’t force anything.
Thanks. Based on the photos and your description, this looks like physical damage from handling/transit - broken socket cover and separated parts. That’s a hardware issue rather than a software or configuration problem, so there isn’t a driver or config change that will fix it. The module would need to be assessed as a hardware fault.
