Hey everyone, I’m stuck trying to get the Arducam IMX477P V3Link FPD-Link SerDes Camera Kit (SKU: B0524) working on my NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX. The camera just isn’t showing up at all — no /dev/video nodes, nothing in dmesg that looks camera-related. Has anyone managed to get this combo working? I’ve double-checked the physical connections and everything seems seated properly but no dice.
Let’s start by gathering some diagnostics so we can see what’s going on under the hood. Can you run our bug report tool? Here’s what to do:
Reboot your device first, then:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
sudo ./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
This will generate an arducam-bug-report.txt file. Send that over via private message and I’ll take a look. Also, if you could share some photos of how you’ve got the hardware connected — the FPD-Link cabling in particular — that’d help a lot.
Done. I’ve PM’d you the bug report file and photos of the hardware setup. Let me know if you spot anything off.
Quick update — I went ahead and re-flashed the Jetson with a fresh BSP from NVIDIA, figured it was worth ruling out. Unfortunately the issue is still the same. I’ve sent an updated screenshot and a new bug report after the re-flash. Still no camera detected.
Thanks for the reports. One thing I want to verify — can you confirm exactly how the camera driver was installed? The correct method for this kit is:
cd ~
wget https://github.com/ArduCAM/MIPI_Camera/releases/download/v0.0.3/install_full.sh
chmod +x install_full.sh
./install_full.sh -m imx477_v3link
If you used a different script or a different module parameter, that could explain the detection issue. Can you confirm this is what you ran?
Yeah, I can confirm 100% — that’s the exact script and command I used. install_full.sh -m imx477_v3link. No variation. The install appeared to complete without errors too.
Could you send a close-up photo of the back of the Jetson module and the carrier board? I want to take a closer look at the physical connections and also identify which carrier board you’re using — that can make a difference with these camera kits.
Sure, just sent those over via PM. Took a few shots from different angles of the back of the board and the carrier. Let me know if you need anything more specific.
Thanks — I can see from the photos that you’re using a third-party carrier board, not the official NVIDIA dev kit carrier. A couple of things to check:
- Are both camera boards having this issue, or is it just one of them?
- If you have access to the official NVIDIA carrier board, can you test the cameras on that? It’d help narrow down whether this is a carrier board compatibility problem versus a fault with the camera modules themselves.
I’ve also gone ahead and arranged for two replacement boards to be sent your way — check your private messages for the details on that.
Good news — the replacement boards showed up and both of them work correctly. I’ve deployed them out to the end customer and they’re functioning as expected. So it looks like the original boards were likely just defective units. Appreciate the help on that front.
Alright, I’m back with a new headache though. Got another board in — same model, Arducam IMX477P V3Link — and this one isn’t working either. Here’s where it gets strange: I tested this exact camera unit on an Eagle-201 carrier board and it works perfectly fine there. But plug it into the current setup? Nothing. Same symptoms as before, no detection. So the camera itself is good, but something about this particular combination isn’t happy.
That’s an interesting data point — if the same camera works on the Eagle-201 but not on your other carrier board, it does point toward a carrier-related issue rather than a camera fault.
Before we go deeper: can you confirm whether the V3Link Kit can be made to work right out of the box on your setup — meaning no extra configuration beyond the standard driver install? If you’re up for it, I’d like you to test with a clean flash, install only the driver as prescribed, and see if the camera is detected. That’ll give us a clean baseline to work from. Let me know how it goes.
