Hi all, hoping someone here has seen this. I’m running an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX 16GB with JetPack 4.6.1 and an Arducam 12MP*4 IMX477 Quadrascopic Camera. I installed the Arducam driver package that was provided for JetPack 4.6.1, but after reboot the camera never shows up as /dev/video0 - there’s no device node at all. I’m starting to suspect it’s something specific to the Xavier NX + JetPack 4.6.1 combo, but I’m not sure where to look next. Anyone run into this?
Thanks for the details. Let’s start narrowing this down. Which exact driver version did you install for the IMX477 quad camera? Also, to rule out any issues with the HAT board, could you try connecting just a single camera module to the HAT and then check /dev/video* after boot? I’d like to see what the system actually enumerates.
I did a couple of comparison tests over the weekend. I put an IMX219 on the same Jetson Xavier NX and it came up as /dev/video0 with no issues, so the CSI interface on the board itself seems fine. Then I took the Arducam camarray and ran it on a Raspberry Pi, and it worked there too. So the camera array isn’t faulty. That’s why I keep coming back to a driver or JetPack 4.6.1 problem on the Xavier NX. By the way, does Arducam support JetPack 5.1.1 for this camarray, or is that on the roadmap? I’d consider moving to 5.1.1 if it’s a better-supported path.
That’s very helpful. Since the IMX219 works on the same Xavier NX and the camarray works on a Pi, the hardware is very likely fine - the failure is probably tied to the driver + JetPack 4.6.1 combination on this platform, not a dead camera or a broken CSI port. I don’t have a confirmed root cause yet, so let’s collect more info. Could you tell me the driver version you installed, keep only one camera connected to the HAT for now, and run the bug report tool below? It’ll pull the logs we need to see what the driver is doing during probe:
wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
./arducam-camera-bug-report-nvidia
Okay, I ran the script and it generated a report file. Where should I send it? And regarding the driver version - I didn’t write it down when I installed it, is there a quick way to check, or will it be in the report?
I’ve sent you a private message with the upload details for the bug report - please check your inbox and send the generated file over that way. Don’t worry too much about the driver version if you can’t find it; the report should show us what’s actually loaded. To summarize where we stand: no /dev/video0 on JetPack 4.6.1 with the Arducam driver, but IMX219 works on the same board and the camarray works on a Pi, so hardware looks good. Root cause isn’t confirmed yet - I need to go through the bug report to see what the driver is doing. And on your separate question about JetPack 5.1.1 support for the camarray, that’s still open on our end; I’ll follow up separately once I have an answer.
