Arducam IMX477 camera install script cannot find deb package on Jetson AGX Orin

Hi everyone. I’m trying to use an Arducam Mini HQ 1.23MP IMX477 camera (M12 mount lens) on a Jetson AGX Orin and I can’t get it detected at all. I grabbed the MIPI_Camera install package from the v0.0.3 release (Release Automatic installation script · ArduCAM/MIPI_Camera · GitHub) and ran:

sudo bash install_full.sh -m imx477

The script starts downloading imx477_links.txt, then fails with:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]

It also prints:
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.1.0-20220810203728
Jetson type: UNKNOWN

Has anyone else hit this on the AGX Orin?

Welcome. The ‘Jetson type: UNKNOWN’ part is the important clue here — the installer can’t identify which Jetson board it’s running on, so it has no way to select a matching deb package. Can you post the full script output plus the following?

uname -a
cat /etc/nv_tegra_release

That will help confirm exactly what the script is detecting.

Sure, here you go:

uname -a:
Linux ubuntu 5.10.104-tegra #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 10 20:17:07 PDT 2022 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

cat /etc/nv_tegra_release:

R35 (release), REVISION: 1.0, GCID: 31346300, BOARD: t186ref, EABI: aarch64, DATE: Thu Aug 25 18:41:45 UTC 2022

The command I’ve been running is exactly:
sudo bash install_full.sh -m imx477

The download of imx477_links.txt succeeds, then it fails right after that.

Thanks. Could you paste the download block and the lines immediately before the error? I’d like to see exactly how far the script gets before it bails. Also, is this a fresh copy of the v0.0.3 release, or did you modify anything in the script?

No modifications, fresh v0.0.3. Here’s the download portion of the run:

Right after that it prints:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.1.0-20220810203728
Jetson type: UNKNOWN

So the download is fine, it’s the deb matching step that fails.

That confirms what I suspected. The download of imx477_links.txt completes normally, but when the script goes to map your board it ends up with ‘Jetson type: UNKNOWN’. Because it can’t identify the platform, it can’t find a corresponding deb package in the v0.0.3 IMX477 set, so it aborts. Essentially, the Jetson AGX Orin isn’t supported by the MIPI_Camera v0.0.3 IMX477 install package yet.

We’re working on AGX Orin compatibility right now, and it may be available next month. Please hang tight and wait for that release — unfortunately I don’t have a workaround for this version in the meantime.

Just checking in on this one again. I’m still on the v0.0.3 script and still getting the exact same result on the Jetson AGX Orin:

sudo bash install_full.sh -m imx477

Output:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.1.0-20220810203728
Jetson type: UNKNOWN

I haven’t been able to make the IMX477 work at all. Is there any update on the AGX Orin support?

Thanks for following up. I checked the current status, and unfortunately AGX Orin compatibility for the IMX477 is still not ready in the MIPI_Camera package. The v0.0.3 installer still can’t identify the board, so it still can’t pick a matching deb and fails with ‘Jetson type: UNKNOWN’ / ‘Cannot find the corresponding deb package’.

So as of right now, this remains unresolved and there’s still no workaround I can offer for the AGX Orin with v0.0.3. Please continue to wait — we’ll announce once an AGX Orin compatible release is available.
