I’m trying to get the Arducam 1MP*2 Stereo Camera (Dual OV9281 Monochrome Global Shutter Camera Module) working on my Jetson Nano 2GB dev board, but the driver install keeps failing. It gets partway through and then errors out. Not sure if it’s the board, the package, or something I did.
Thanks for the report. Could you post the full installer output? The error text right around the failure will help narrow down where the package is breaking. Also, is this a stock Jetson Nano 2GB dev board, or are you using a different carrier board?
Sure, here’s my environment:
- Jetson Nano 2GB dev board
- Arducam 1MP*2 Stereo Camera (Dual OV9281 Monochrome Global Shutter Camera Module)
And here’s the installer log:

Errors were encountered while processing: arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel
One thing I suspect: I’d already added a dtoverlay to enable the microSD card, so maybe that’s conflicting with the camera overlay?
Looking at the log, the package unpacks fine, but it dies in the post-installation script while installing dtoverlays:
An unknown error occurred while installing dtoverlays.
dpkg: error processing package arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel (--install):
installed arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 255
So the failure is specifically at the dtoverlay step, returning exit status 255. Your microSD overlay theory is possible, but before we go down that path, can you take photos of the Jetson Nano board, front and back? I’d like to confirm which carrier board you’re actually on.
Here are the photos of the board:

Thanks, those photos are very helpful. They show you’re using a third-party carrier board, not the official NVIDIA/Arducam carrier board. That’s the root cause here. The Arducam camera driver for this module is only compatible with the official carrier board. On a third-party board, the dtoverlay installation step fails, which is exactly the exit status 255 you’re seeing in the log.
The carrier board came from Seeed Studio, so yes, it’s third-party. Is there really no way to install the driver on this board? Any manual dtoverlay edits or a workaround?
I’m afraid the camera driver compatibility is limited to the official carrier board. The dtoverlay installation failure you’re seeing is caused by the third-party board, and there isn’t a supported way to force the install on a Seeed Studio carrier. For reference, here’s what the official carrier board looks like:

Short version: to get the driver installed correctly, you’ll need to use the official carrier board.
