Hi everyone, I’m trying to get an Arducam B0266 (JetVariety) camera working on a DSBOARD-ORNX carrier board with a Jetson Orin Nano 8GB module, running JetPack 5.1.1. I was following the Arducam Multi-Camera CamArray quick-start guide and ran the installer:
./install_full.sh -m arducam
But during the install it fails partway through with this:
RuntimeError: “No DTB found for Orin Nano 8GB for DSBOARD-ORNX!”
dpkg: error processing package arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel
That DTB error usually means the install script can’t find a matching device tree blob for your carrier board. The script checks against a list of known DTB names, and “DSBOARD-ORNX” isn’t one it recognizes, so it bails out before finishing the kernel package. Can you paste the exact output around that error? Also, is the camera connected through a HAT while the installer runs?
made sure everything looked right in NVIDIA SDK Manager
reconnected the cameras and the HAT
But I never got the cameras to work - the installer keeps throwing that kernel error at the same spot. One thing I’m also wondering: the quick-start guide doesn’t state which JetPack version should be used with this camera setup. I’m on JetPack 5.1.1, but I’m not sure that’s actually the right version for these cameras.
The DSBOARD-ORNX is a third-party carrier board, and we’ve seen situations where some Arducam cameras have compatibility problems on non-official boards. From the error alone I can’t tell whether this is a camera issue or a platform issue with that specific board. Do you have access to an official NVIDIA development kit? Testing the camera on that would help isolate where the problem is.
I do have a Jetson Nano dev kit I can try. On the Orin Nano + DSBOARD-ORNX setup the install fails with the kernel error every single time. Should I move the cameras over to the official Nano dev kit and redo the install there? And is there a specific JetPack version I should flash on the Nano dev kit first?
Yes, that’s the right next step - test on the official development kit to isolate whether the issue is the camera itself or the third-party hardware platform. If the cameras still don’t work on the official dev kit, then you’d want to reach out to Arducam support directly with those results.
The JetPack version question is a good one - the guide doesn’t explicitly state it, so once you’re on the official dev kit we’ll want to confirm the compatible JetPack release before running the installer again.
Okay, I’m switching over to the official Jetson Nano dev kit and will try the cameras there. I still need to figure out the correct JetPack version though - the kernel error happened during the install on the Orin Nano, so I don’t want to repeat that on the Nano dev kit if it turns out to be a version mismatch. Any guidance on which JetPack to use?
Right now the root cause isn’t pinned down yet. The main takeaway is that the DSBOARD-ORNX board may be incompatible with some Arducam cameras, so validating on the official Nano dev kit is required to isolate whether it’s the camera or the third-party hardware. Once you’re on the official dev kit, the open question is confirming the JetPack version that’s compatible with this camera setup - the guide doesn’t spell it out, and the earlier install attempt threw a kernel error, so that still needs to be resolved. Keep us posted on how the install goes on the Nano dev kit.
