Hi everyone, I’m having trouble getting the camarray drivers installed on a freshly flashed Jetson Xavier NX. I’m on JetPack 4.6.3 and using the ArduCAM MIPI_Camera installer v0.0.3. The installer keeps failing partway through and I can’t get the imx477_stereo drivers set up.
Here’s exactly what I ran:
cd ~
wget https://github.com/ArduCAM/MIPI_Camera/releases/download/v0.0.3/install_full.sh
chmod +x install_full.sh
./install_full.sh -m imx477_stereo
And this is the error I get:
An unknown error occurred while installing dtoverlays.
dpkg: error processing package arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel (--install):
installed arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 255
Errors were encountered while processing:
arducam-nvidia-l4t-kernel
Unknown error, please send the error message to [email protected]
Has anyone run into this exit status 255 during the post-install script before?
Thanks for the details. Could you post a couple of pictures of the front and back of the Jetson NX board? That’ll help us look into the setup. Also, just to confirm, is this a fresh flash with nothing else modified before you ran install_full.sh?
Here are the front and back photos. One more thing I should mention: the install only fails when I boot from SSD. If I boot from the SD card, the exact same installer works fine. But I need this running with SSD boot, so that’s the configuration I’m stuck on.

Thanks, I took a look at the photos. From what I can see, that appears to be a third-party development/carrier board rather than the official NVIDIA dev kit. Some ArduCAM cameras have known incompatibilities with certain third-party carrier boards, and that could be why the post-install script is failing. Can you test the cameras on the official NVIDIA development kit? If it fails there too, let us know. Right now the third-party board makes it hard to tell whether the problem is with the camera or the hardware platform.
Wait, I’m not using a third-party board. This is the official NVIDIA development kit for the Jetson Xavier NX.
Here’s a photo of the underside with the SSD card removed so you can see the board itself:

Apologies, I was wrong about the third-party board. After checking the underside photo, it is indeed the official NVIDIA dev kit. That said, I have to be honest: we’ve only tested driver installation with SSD boot on the Orin NX. We haven’t tested this same flow on the Xavier NX with SSD boot, so I can’t say exactly what’s causing the post-install script to return 255 there. The fact that it works on SD boot but fails on SSD boot is consistent with something in the script failing when the rootfs is on the SSD, but I don’t have a tested fix for the Xavier NX.
Understood. My next step is to try reflashing the Jetson using a different procedure and see if the SSD boot install behaves any differently. I’ll report back if I find anything.
