Hi everyone, I’ve got an Arducam camera that isn’t being detected at all. I ran the bug report tool and attached the output here (arducam-bug-report.txt). Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks for the bug report. I went through the output and I’m not seeing an obvious software or config failure in there, which makes me lean toward a hardware connection issue rather than a driver problem. The hardware connection should be inspected first to isolate the issue. Could you send a few pictures of how the camera is connected to the board?
Sure, but before that - I actually bought 2 of these camera modules, and one of them looks like it’s DOA. When I inspected the camera more closely, I noticed the camera itself was unplugged from the carrier board. I’ve attached two bug reports now: arducam-bug-report_1.txt is the debug output from the dead camera, and arducam-bug-report.txt is the original file I sent earlier.
Got it. arducam-bug-report_1.txt is the debug output from the dead camera, and since you found it unplugged from the carrier board, we should figure out whether it’s the cable or the module itself. Can you take the cable from the working module and connect it to the bad module? If the bad module comes up with a known-good cable, then the cable was the culprit. If it still doesn’t work, we know the problem is on the module side.
Okay, I dug into this a bit more. It turns out the connector between the sensor and the carrier board was disconnected - it actually arrived that way. I reconnected it and the camera works now. I’m running this on a Raspberry Pi Zero, and I also added these lines to /boot/config.txt:
camera_auto_detect=0
dtoverlay=imx219
Glad the connector turned out to be the problem. Just to confirm - did you also try the cable swap from the working module over to the bad module, and does the camera keep working after that? For the Pi Zero, you do need these lines in /boot/config.txt:
camera_auto_detect=0
dtoverlay=imx219
We’re looking at updating our documentation for Pi Zero setups since this step trips people up.
Confirmed - all cameras are working as expected now. Thanks for walking me through it!
