Arducam B0399 camera not detected on Raspberry Pi 5 - libcamera reports no cameras available

Hi everyone, I’ve got an Arducam B0399 connected to a Raspberry Pi 5 and I just can’t get it detected. It’s never worked since I got it, honestly. When I run libcamera it says no cameras available. Here’s the output I’m getting:

[0:32:57.530305705] [2895] INFO Camera camera_manager.cpp:284 libcamera v0.1.0+246-9fb4698e-dirty (2024-02-27T06:28:07+00:00) Made X/EGL preview window
ERROR: *** no cameras available ***

Not sure if this is a wiring thing or a config thing on the Pi 5. Has anyone run into this with the B0399 before?

Sorry you’re hitting this. Right now the cause isn’t clear, so let’s gather a bit of info. First, could you post pictures of the physical connection at both ends - the Raspberry Pi side and the camera side? That helps rule out a bad seating or wiring issue.

Also, please generate a bug report so I can see the current state of the system. Reboot the device first, then run these commands:

wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
./arducam-camera-bug-report

That will produce an arducam-bug-report.txt in the current directory. Attach that file here and I’ll take a look.

Thanks. I did some searching around and installed the packages I thought might be missing, then ran the bug report tool. I’ve attached the arducam-bug-report.txt. These are the commands I ended up running:

wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
./arducam-camera-bug-report

Attachment: arducam-bug-report.txt

Got the report, thanks. Before I can pin down the cause, can you also post the output of:

cat /boot/firmware/config.txt

I’m specifically checking the camera-related configuration there - the dtoverlay / start_x settings on the Pi 5. And if you haven’t already, please share the connection pictures as well. Between the config and the photos we should be able to tell whether this is a wiring problem or a configuration problem.
