Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve got an Arducam B0399 64MP autofocus camera that I can’t get to produce any image at all. libcamera just says no cameras available.
My setup:
Raspberry Pi 5 running the latest Bookworm
Also tried a Raspberry Pi 4 with Bookworm
Camera connected to the cam1 port (also tried cam0)
pi5@pi5:~ $ libcamera-still -t 5000
[0:05:33.964367045] [2099] INFO Camera camera_manager.cpp:325 libcamera v0.3.2+51-28bff115-dirty (2024-10-08T05:59:20BST)

ERROR: *** no cameras available ***
I’ve followed all the steps in the 64MP Hawkeye docs, tested both cam1 and cam0 ports, changed the config file, and even tested on a Pi 4 with Bookworm. No luck on any of them. Anyone seen this before?
Thanks for the details. That ‘no cameras available’ error usually means the camera isn’t being detected, so let’s gather some diagnostics.
Could you post a couple of photos of the hardware connection, both the Raspberry Pi end and the camera end of the cable? That helps rule out a seating or orientation issue.
Also, could you run the Arducam bug report tool and attach the output? Here’s how:
Make it executable:
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
Run it:
./arducam-camera-bug-report
That creates an arducam-bug-report.txt file in the current directory. Attach that file here so we can see what the system is reporting about the camera.
Quick update. I did a completely fresh install of Bookworm 64-bit on a new SD card and went through the 64MP Hawkeye docs again one step at a time. Still the same result.
Details of my setup:
Raspberry Pi 5 / Bookworm 64-bit, fresh install on new SD card
Original 27W power supply
Arducam 64MP Autofocus (box labeled B0399)
Camera board labeled UC923
Two cables included: a 15-22 pin (labeled UC376) and a 22-22 pin
I’m using the 15-22 pin cable on the cam1 port
Config change I made:
sudo nano /boot/firmware/config.txt
Under the [all] section I added:
dtoverlay=arducam-64mp
Then saved and rebooted.
Running libcamera-still -t 5000 still gives ‘camera not found’.
I’ve attached the bug report output and photos of the connections:
Thanks for the photos and the bug report. Looking at everything, my first suspicion is the 15-22 pin cable. These can be picky, and a faulty or slightly incompatible one will stop the camera from being detected entirely.
Do you have another 15-22 pin cable on hand? If so, could you swap it in and try again?
I tested again using a Raspberry Pi 4 with 22-22 pin support instead, so a different cable and a different board. Still can’t get a single image out of it. At this point I’m fairly convinced the cable isn’t the problem, unless both cables happen to be bad, which seems unlikely.
Fair point. If the 22-22 pin cable on a Pi 4 also shows nothing, that does make the cable less likely to be the culprit. Just to summarize where we are: the camera isn’t being detected on either a Pi 5 (15-22 pin, cam1) or a Pi 4 (22-22 pin), on a fresh Bookworm install with dtoverlay=arducam-64mp in place, and the bug report is showing the same ‘no cameras available’ symptom. With both cables and both boards ruled out, this is pointing more toward the camera module itself not enumerating. I’m going through the bug report contents now to look at the detection side and will follow up here once I’ve had a closer look.
