Hi, I’ve been using an Arducam 64MP camera with my Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.1 for a couple of weeks, but since a few days ago it stopped working. When I run libcamera-still -t 0 I get this:
Made X/EGL preview window

And when I try the continue autofocus command: libcamera-still -t 0 --viewfinder-width 2312 --viewfinder-height 1736 --continue-autofocus

I also tried the camera on a different Raspberry Pi 4 with a freshly installed Raspbian and a fresh install of the camera drivers following the Arducam webpage instructions, but it made no difference, same errors.
Could this be something with libcamera itself? Any pointers on what to check next?
Hi, thanks for all the detail. Good news is the camera itself is being detected fine (Device found Arducam 64MP) and libcamera does enumerate it — the problem is that streaming fails with an I/O error on /dev/video0, so this looks more like a driver/endpoint issue than a detection issue.
Before we go further we’d like a full bug report from your device so we can dig into it. Please reboot first, then run:
Please find attached the requested bug report (arducam-bug-report.txt, generated with the commands you gave). Let me know if you need anything else from me.
Hi, following up on the bug report I sent last week — has the problem been identified yet? I’m happy to run any additional checks to help narrow it down. Nothing has changed on my side: libcamera-still -t 0 still ends in ERROR: *** failed to start camera ***, and --continue-autofocus is still not recognized.
Thanks for following up. We’ve reviewed the bug report and we’d like some more data from your exact setup. Could you run our register debug tool on the Raspberry Pi?
I ran the script as described and took a screenshot of the terminal after it finished (attached inline).
But now, after a manual reboot, the camera isn’t found at all anymore — /dev/video0 is gone and libcamera-still --list-cameras just returns No cameras available. Not sure if the script changed something, but it was working (well, at least detected) before I ran it.
Thanks for that. The camera disappearing after running the script and rebooting is important for us to understand. Could you re-run the debug script after rebooting your Raspberry Pi and give us a fresh screenshot of the terminal? We want to see the output from a clean boot this time.
I re-executed register_debug_tool.sh two times after rebooting the Pi, and the error messages are slightly different between the two runs. I’ve attached:
screenshot of the first execution after reboot
screenshot of the second execution after reboot
my /boot/config.txt (the script changed it, so I’m including it for the root cause analysis)
Still no camera: /dev/video0 is not available anymore, and libcamera-still --list-cameras gives No cameras available.
Thanks for the screenshots and the config.txt. Quick summary of where we are: at the driver level the camera enumerates fine (Device found Arducam 64MP) and libcamera lists it, but every streaming attempt fails with an I/O error on /dev/video0 — so this points to a low-level driver/endpoint issue rather than an enumeration one. On top of that, the register debug tool modified /boot/config.txt, and after a reboot the camera is no longer detected at all (No cameras available).
We’re now comparing the two script runs and the config diff to see exactly what changed. We’ll follow up once the register data is analyzed — no further action needed on your side for now.
