Arducam 16MP IMX519 camera package install fails on Raspberry Pi kernel 6.1.11 with OctoPrint

Hi all, I’m trying to get the Arducam 16MP IMX519 autofocus camera working with OctoPrint following this guide: Solution On OctoPrint - Arducam Wiki. The package installation fails and I get this:

Cannot find the corresponding package, please send the following information to [email protected]
You are using an unsupported kernel version, please install the official SD Card image(do not execute rpi-update): https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/operating-systems/

Hardware Revision: a020d3
Kernel Version: 6.1.11-v7+
Package: imx519_kernel_driver – bullseye-v5

Not sure what’s going on, any help appreciated.

Thanks for including those details. The issue is the kernel version. 6.1.11-v7+ isn’t currently supported by the imx519_kernel_driver package, so it can’t find a matching bullseye-v5 package for your setup. You’ll need to re-flash the SD card with a supported official image instead of what you’re running now. Important: don’t run rpi-update, since that’s likely how you ended up on an unsupported kernel. Grab the official image from Raspberry Pi OS downloads – Raspberry Pi and flash that first.

Thanks, but honestly I’m not sure what to do with the SD card image. Could you walk me through it?

Sure. First, install the Raspberry Pi Imager from https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/ — there’s a 45-second video on that page that shows the whole process. For this setup, download the OctoPi bullseye armhf lite image here:
https://unofficialpi.org/Distros/OctoPi/nightly/2022-02-24_2022-01-28-octopi-bullseye-armhf-lite-1.0.0.zip
Then use the Imager to write that image to your SD card.

Okay, I’ve got the Raspberry Pi Imager installed. Working on writing the image now.

Actually, quick question — when the Imager opens I’m on the OS/image selection screen and I’m not sure which option I should pick.

Here’s a screenshot of what I’m seeing in the Imager.

One more thing — when I click ‘write’, it warns that everything on the SD card will be erased. I already have OctoPrint set up on this card and I’m worried about losing that existing setup. Is that going to wipe it?

Two things. First, in the Imager choose the ‘Use custom’ option and point it at the OctoPi zip you downloaded — that’s the image you want to write. Second, yes, that erase warning is normal: writing an image wipes everything on the SD card. So if you have anything in your current OctoPrint setup you want to keep (configs, plugins, etc.), back it up before you proceed. Once the bullseye image is written and booted, run the imx519 driver install again and it should find the matching package for the supported kernel.
