Hi everyone, hoping someone can help. I have a 16MP IMX519 camera on a Raspberry Pi 4 and it has never worked since I got it. I’ve been following the Arducam IMX519 start guide. When I run the test command it just says no camera available. I’ve tried it with an LCD screen attached to the Pi and also with an HDMI monitor, same result.
Running:
libcamera-still -t 5000 -o test.jpg
gives me:
Made X/EGL preview window

INFO Camera camera_manager.cpp:299 libcamera v0.0.0+4223-b20728fe
ERROR: *** no camera available ***
Thanks for the log. That “no camera available” message means libcamera isn’t seeing the IMX519 at all. Before we go deeper, can you confirm the exact camera model and how you have it connected? Also which OS image are you running on the Pi 4, and did you run the full setup from the Arducam guide, including the libcamera install/enable steps?
It’s the 16MP IMX519 camera. Platform is a Raspberry Pi 4. I followed the Arducam IMX519 start guide and already tried reinstalling the script before I reached out, but it didn’t change anything. I’ve tested with both an LCD screen attached to the Pi and a normal HDMI monitor. The camera still isn’t detected.
Okay, so the install script has already been re-run and libcamera still reports no camera. That points to the camera not being detected at the firmware/driver level, not just a preview issue. Let’s collect a diagnostic bug report so we can see what the Pi is actually detecting.
Quick update — I got it to work! I even got it working with the LCD screen attached to the Pi and with the HDMI monitor as well. Not entirely sure what changed, but it’s detecting now.
That’s great to hear, glad it’s working on both displays now. Since we didn’t get the bug report captured before it started working, we can’t pin down the exact root cause from the logs. If it drops out again, run the bug report commands above and post the arducam-bug-report.txt so we can compare.
